Turn in a PS2 for an XBOX?

So I've had a PS2 for a long time, but just recently the XBOX has looked like a totally better system. The ability to save avi's on the hard drive sounds like a pretty cool option, plus I would be able to watch any tv show (family Guy) with a few clicks. I have $100 dollar gift cert. to Gamestop from X-MAS. For those of you who have had both systems, is XBOX as good as it sounds?

I recently soft-modded my Xbox and its pretty sweet. Can do the things you mentioned plus play just about every emulator up through Nintendo 64.
