My 25-year-old brother just got engaged on Christmas, and they are planning to get married in June or July of next year.

Now, I am only 20-years-old and a full-time college student (I took the year off though until next fall due to medicial reasons), now I am wondering about the weeding gift and how that works. I will likely be the usher/grossmens (we are the only two kids in the family, as well I have older step siblings (30-year-olds bro and sister who live down south), so this is a one-time thing for me (unless he gets re-married or something). Any advice or suggestions.

Stripper(s)
If you are the best man or even if you are not...You NEED to have strippers there. This is important. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE NEED FOR STRIPPERS. This is especially the case if he tells you or the best man he doesn't want one. HE will be disappointed if no one gets him strippers.

My first bachelor party...I was marrying an uptight bitch, so I said no strippers. We had a helluva party, but no strippers. I was a bit disappointed.

My second bachelor party...I told my Best Man I expected strippers. When he called the first number in the phone book, the gal turned out to be a hooker, and he crumbled. He didn't get the strippers, because he said talking to them on the phone made him feel sleazy and dirty. I was extremely disappointed, and this party would go down as one of the ten worst Bachelor parties on record. It would have made the five worst list, but no one actually died of anything but boredom. This is especially ironic now that the best man is the only person I know who frequents prostitutes.

Oh as for the gift Hmm "Candlesticks always make a nice gift".http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

In short. Make sure there are strippers, he will thank you for it later.

Glengoyne is right. Get the man some strippers.

I won't be the best man, but being the brother, I'll be in the party of course. I'm not too worried about the strippers. My brother's friends will no doubt take care of that. :) Nice part of this wedding and the party, I turn 21 in March.

But what should I give for a gift?

my mother gave me good advice for my cousin's wedding on this. She said "ignore what they register for, let the richer people get them that. get them something they'll use over and over." So i got them a pewter serving platter...saw my cousin a year and a half or so later and she was like "we use your platter all the time. it's so awesome!".
