A: An inmate with a life sentence for murder in a Colorado prison got a little bonus from the court system, he got an additional three years tacked on to his sentence. His crime? Bringing in and sharing cheese sandwiches with his fellow inmates, which violated jail contraband food rules.

B: Army Lt. Tricia Thompson was charged with dereliction of duty in November. Her unit, First Battalion of the 24th Infantry Regiment based at Fort Lewis, Washington, had received notice that they were to transfer to Iraq to provide security during elections in Iraq, currently scheduled for the end of January. The report stated that Thompson deliberately got pregnant by her fiancee, to keep from rotating out with her unit to Iraq. She is currently being held pending court-martial.

C:After Billy Williams skipped out during his trial for aggravated assault in 2003 in Dallas, he was found guilty in absentia, but Judge Faith Johnson apparently was not quite satisfied. When Williams was recaptured and returned to her courtroom in October for sentencing, Johnson organized a "party" in his "honor," with balloons, streamers and a cake, to create a festive backdrop for her gleeful announcement that she was sentencing him to a life term.

D: A 19 year old New Orleans native was charged with desecrating a grave when he broke into the crypt that contained his younger cousin, believing that other relatives had buried "tribute" money and drugs to help ease the deceased's transition to the afterworld. (apparently, the family had not provided such "transition" goods)

E: A New York man, who police say was distraught over the death of a family member, entered a bar and took the bartender hostage, and when police showed up, fired a shot in the direction of police, starting a four hour standoff that only ended when the man passed out drunk, at which time the man was taken into custody.

EDIT - In the Air Force, if the woman wants to get out of the service shen she gets pregnant, they let her. I can't imagine the Army being that much different.

B as well. Her unit would just send her after she delivered.

Edit: You are right...they do the same thing in the Army. This is a "no Family Care Plan" out. A single soldier or dual-military couples must have a Family Care Plan to stay in the Army. The Family Care Plan mostly consists of a short term care provider (for Field Training) and a long term care provider (for Deployments).
