My wife and I have that Blockbuster monthly subscription where we can watch as many movies as we want for one price.. blah..blah..

Anyhow, I think I've seen just about every new release and I'm starting to watch movies I haven't seen that friends tell me I need to see.

Example, a friend just called and told me I must see Office Space, so.. that's on my list for tonight.

What else can you fellow FOFC'ers tell me I need to see. I like just about any theme.

Thanks!!

Haven't seen office space?!?! Where have you been? Have you by chance seen a space fantasy movie that came out around 1977, called Star Wars?

Shawshank Redemption
Braveheart

There are just too many to name. Check online for "Best Movies" or something on the lines of "Can't miss movies of all time".

Seen both of these movies. I "don't think" I've seen Office Space, but I could pop it in and say, "I remember this". :)

I know I can do a search, but I figured I would get alot of interesting titles from people on here, plus it's a nice guide for me to come back to for more suggestions.

Mississippi Burning. The story actually made the front page of the Times today. The man responsible is being brought up on Murder charges.

Clerks, if you haven't already.

I just watched Big Fish, and really enjoyed it. We have been doing the Blockbuster monthly thing as well. One thing I'm really enjoying is getting a whole seasons worth of a TV Series on DVD without actually buying the set. I'm in the middle of Firefly right now, and I highly reccomend that as well.

I took that advice once and ended up renting "Heavy Into Jeff". I didn't watch it over and over.

American Splendor is really really good, Paul Giamatti is turning out to be one of the bettor actors in film..... however avoid Garden State, starts off good - then takes a big nose dive into a big pile of cheese. It is a good excuse to stare at Natalie Portman for 90 minutes tho.

For newish movies to dvd, id suggest "Hero". akin to Crouching Tiger, but has more of a Brothers Grimm story line, its really well done.

Undercover Brother - Eddie Griffin is hilarious.
U-571 - A very good WWII submarine movie.
Amazon Women on the Moon - A funny, episodic movie similar to Kentucky Fried Movie.
The Spanish Prisoner - Steve Martin in a dramatic support role. A good drama that draws you in.

American Movie: I went with this off of a recommindation in a FOFC thread last summer and it is one of the best (and to me funniest) movies I have seen in a while. I was very pleasently surprised. It is a documentary about the production of a very low budget horror movie and the people in the film are 1000 times better than anything a writer could ever create. (especially grandpa and his loser friend)

Really not sure why they made movies after Cool Hand Luke....
That being said...
Hustler (Newman and GC Scott, Gleason)
It Happened One Night (first and best romanitc road trip movie)
Murder on a Sunday Morning (very sad documentary oscar winner, like being hit with a baseball bat for two hours, in a good way)
Sweet Smell of Success (Lancastor as the prick and Curtis as the patsy, great jazz sound track)

I too was lost on movies so I just started watching the best pictures nominations, then forgien and documentaries. That's the good thing about the rental thing; if you watch 2 or 3 a week you can put up with some dudes in order to get to the gems.

We saw Hero and i liked it, it's pretty cool and im a sucker for subtitles.. Garden State, I'd rented it as my "chick flick" since im alone all week movie, surprised any guys liked it :p I loved it enough to consider buying it though, it's all sweeet all and stuff.
Im headed out to get Troy and Little BLack Book, but im a girl soo yeahhh.
Still cant believe someone hasnt seen Office Space,
"mm excuse me e e i beleive you have my stapler"
When nothings out I always like
Very Bad Things, Sweetest Thing, Heathers, really anything with Jon Favreau, Stiller, the husband thinks im warped but I doo love my Urban Cowboy, Coal Miners Daughter and Little House on the Prarie dvd's  anything else I like would be a "kids movie":)..
did NOT watch Eternal Sunshine when it was in the house last week, i cannot stand Jim Carrey

Troy was really bad... but i read the illiad, so my opinion is tainted. Nothing like sitting there during a movie and subconsciously picking out all of the problems with the plot. :p

I would suggest Pulp Fiction and Magnolia. If you want a real messed up film, see if you can get your hands on Pi.
