I have started a new dynasty with Southern University and I have a doubt, if i don't redshirt a player, but don't play him for the whole season, will he keep his full elegilibity year like a redshirt? Rrlated question, if i redshirt a player, and in the middle of the season i need him, can i remove the redshirt (of course loosing the elegibility year)? I know TCY works that way, redshirt is only for your eyes but what counts is if you play the kid or not but i'm not sure about FBCB.

You need to redshirt someone for them to keep their eligibility and you can, I believe, remove a redshirt in the middle of the year.

Yes, you can remove a redshirt and, I believe, give a redshirt in the middle of the year in FBCB if the player is eligible and hasn't played at all. Not sure if that's the NCAA line, though.

Another redshirt question. I watch some college BB but don't reall know how many players IRL actually get redshirted. Seems when looking at other teams in fbcb there are a lot of redshirts. Does anyone know if the numbers of redshirts in fbcb is in line with RL?

I also wonder when I see a 4* player redshirting with the exception of acedemic problems. Seems like these guys would go to programs where they would play. Now I understand a quality player might except the RS at Duke because of a backlog at his position. But wouldn't he be more likely to go to another top program that didn't have the backlog?

Intersted on hearing any input on "real life" college ball and redshirting, thanks.

Redshirting doesn't happen often like it does in college football. Usually, the redshirt is saved for injuries or for players who may need some work but have potential to be a solid player and you have a backlog of better players at that position.

I limit myself to one redshirt per season as house rule. AI teams shouldn't redshirt as much, is not realistic. This could be fixed if HR adds players happiness and transfers betwen programs, that way if you redshirt a good player, he could demand a transfer to another college.

Well if you redshirt a good player and have early entries enabled then you may lose him to the draft after only a season or two of him actually playing where as you would have gotten another season from him without the reshirt. Also I think it would be nice to have medical reshirts. My senior center got injured for 200+ days in the second game of the season...

Well, the good thing about the early departures is they are announced before the redshirt designation is made. If a guy declares, I usually play him that season if he was going to sit out.

I've mentioned medical redshirts to HR, but I don't recall his response right now. Hopefully, he'll be able to work something into the next version...whether in a patch or FBCB 2k6.

Well, I mean if you have already reshirted the guy and in his reshirt freshman season he says he is leaving then you only get him for one year. Had he not been reshirted the previous season then he would have played two seasons.
