Didnt get a chance to see her, but i am curious as to why there was so much hatred towards the old ADA, I never thought she was bad, i don't understand where all the anger comes from.

Never understood the hatred either. Then again, I haven't seen too many eps with her. Only know her from the "Angel" days.
After being back in the States for about a month now and having three weeks off for the holidays and the move, I have quickly discovered that you can watch either a CSI or Law & Order on cable pretty much any time you want. I can't think of an hour in which either show is not showing. It's amazing.

The old one can not act.
The new one is definitely better than Rohmbot.

Because she took over for Angie Harmon. I don't care that Angie left on her own accord, anyone taking over for her had 2 strikes against her for simply not being Angie. ADA Abbie Carmichael was beautiful, a brilliant legal mind, and full of moxie and spunk. And beautifu. She sits only behind Topanga as my future television wives.
But I digress.

She was almost as stiff as blondie... but I'm thinking that there is a slim possibility that the role has become more about eye-candy than substance...

Errr, I think that's been the case since Paul left the show 10 years ago...

Is this something new? I thought it was always part of the L&O formula. Maybe my sarcasm detector needs to be recalibrated.

After Carrie Lowell, yes.

I thought that the new girl, while not as hot as previous selections, instantly made the show more credible from an acting standpoint. She seems like she could be a smart lawyer. Every time the writers credited Rohm with a clever legal move, I thought, "no way she even knows how to dress herself without help."

Why, because she is a lesbian?

Vanessa Ferlito is yummy, but I TIVO both of them.
I like the new girl on L&O, she appears to be a better actress than Rohm, and I don't think she is that much of a downgrade in the looks department. The new girl is attractive IMO.

This position within the series seems to be the easiest one to substitute and fillin for.
Interviewer: "Is Ringo Starr the best drummer in rock and roll?"
John Lennon: (laughing) "He's not the best drummer in the band."

If Rohm had been any more stiff, they could have saved money and used a mannequin, IMO.

Whats the old saying?
John was the heart, Paul was the brains, George was the soul, and Ringo was the drums. :D

Wow... L&O although not nearly as good as it used to be, or even as good as L&O:SVU, is still far better than that CSI: NY garbage...

As I've mentioned here (or perhaps elsewhere) you can find a CSI or L&O on cable television at pretty much any hour of the day guaranteed. I was never a huge L&O fan and I have pretty much missed the CSI train after living in Europe for the past three years, but here are my initial impressions (these aren't rankings)
1. L&O. It's solid. I have always hated the "ripped from the headlines" episodes. The cops are usually solid and Angie Harmon was sweeeet... All in all, it's ok.
2. L&O: SVU. I never really liked the concept up of the show, but after watching it a few times, I think it could be the best. Beecher's boyfriend (the lead cop guy) is solid. Ice Tea is sweet and I love the guy from Homicide. All in all, likely the strongest cast, as the characters seem to have more personality than on the other shows.
3. CSI: I've always liked William Peterson from way back in the day. "To Live and Die in LA," "Manhunter," and the HBO classic "Long Gone." I'm a fan. I like Marge Hilgenwhatever too. She's cool and sassy. I hate the dark haired girl from ER. She's smug, arrogant, snarky, whatever. She rubs me the wrong way. The others do nothing for me.
4. CSI: Miami. Caruso sucks. He's smugger, more arrogant, and snarkier than the dark haired chick above. He kills me. He can't even come off as sincere he's so annoying. Could be my least favorite as there is no one cast member who I like.
5. CSI: New York. Always been a Gary Sinise fan ever since he was Stu Redman in "The Stand." I'm not always thrilled with his patriotic thing he's got going on "I'm a MARINE!", but I like him. The rest of the cast is pretty decent too.
All in all, CSI is cool because of the stuff and gadgets, but not all that believable. L&O is more believable because the cases seem to rely on actual police work that wouldn't involve $10 billion budgets and illions of man hours.
Man. I need a hobby.

Liz Rohm made a more convincing cop on Angel than she did a lawyer on L&I. LOVED her character there. Hopefully if/when they get around to an Angel movie she can now be a part of it.

Melina Kanakaredes is more than decent. Wow she's so hot.
