Good deal for the Marlins. I think Delgado is gonna be a big time impact player this year.

seems a bit risky for someone who already has a salt and pepper goatee. Is he hiding something age-wise?

Hey, it's great to see Wilson Delgado getting work. Honestly, there aren't enough switch-hitting utility guys who can hit a solid .220 and maybe pound out two homers per decade. I hope he sticks with the big league squad.
edit: oh

This is a great signing. After seeing the Beltre and Sexson signings or even some of the nonsense like Varitek or the pitching blunders, this looks like an absolute bargain.

Uh oh, the Mets fans at work might have to put off their World Series party. ;)
Just another pretender in the NL East who actually believes that they can win the division. I have finally forced myself to believe that the Braves will win the NL East until the end of time (though they may not have much else to show for it).

To be fair, I'd still rather have the Braves run of 18-million straight NL East titles than the Diamondbacks championship and 5 years of suck.

I'm not complaining about it, just saying that as a Phillies fan I think that I am finally waving the white flag. :(

dola: at least until the Phillies get a GM that has a clue and a team goal of winning and not just putting people in the seats.

I'd be interested to know how much Delgado lost by letting the market develop. I can't remember how much the rumored offer from the Mariners was, but he might have taken a pay cut by letting Sexson sign first.
I wished the Mariners would have signed Delgado instead, but they were pretty clear (at least when talking to the media) that they had made multiple offers and they intended to get the first guy who signed on the dotted line.
I think the Mariners made the right move as they had to be aggressive to change their image as being unwilling to get help via free agency (a big part of Beltre's reluctance to sign with the Ms was-reportedly-his fear that they wouldn't spend money on anyone else). If they hadn't been aggressive and waited for Delgado they may have missed out on Sexson, Beltre and Delgado.
I think this is an awesome deal for Tampa and I'm kind of glad that waiting might have cost Delgado a few million (though I'm sure he will make-do). I hate how the market developed slowly the past few years and maybe this will make guys next season think about signing early.
