Z-O-U!
Wait a sec, that's tomorrow's thread. Carry on, carry on.

Awesome game. That was the first game that they seemed a little rattled, but it was only for a few possesions. They really gutted that one out. Jack stepped up big time.
My first Dola :p
Head on over to the Illini Board (if you don't already know about it).

Someone does that in every cheering section!
Great game last night, but I almost hope they lose prior to the tourney, so they can get the loss out of the way!

Do you have a link for us when Mizzou doesn't make the NIT? :)
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high this year, but it seems that the stars are aligned.
This is the best team we've had in 16 years and if we get the 1 seed in Chicago we should play in Indianapolis (win this year against Gonzaga), Chicago (home away from home), and St. Louis (where we annually whip Quinny the Pooh and his Tiggers too).

Did you not watch the Illinois-Iowa game?
(Disclaimer: I'm a proud Iowa alumnus. :) )
But I gotta say, Illinois is looking GOOD. I was thinking they'd lose last night, but they pulled it out and then some. All my Illini buddies are rightfully thrilled about this team.
Of course, that will just make it all the more sweeter when the winning streak is stopped Saturday, February 19. :p
Did you not watch the Illinois-Iowa game?
Yes I did. Iowa gave us all we could handle, but they never panicked and forced up bad shots when they fell behind. They could've lost to Iowa, Purdue, and Arkansas, but during each of those games they kept their composure when behind.
Last night there were three straight possessions where they didn't run motion and forced horrible shots. At that point I thought they were done for. They finally settled down, tightened up the D, and battled back.

Twas a good game. The wrong team won, but a good game nonetheless. Too bad the Badgers couldn't even hit a layup the last few minutes of the game.
My biggest gripe was with the guy (no idea who it was) on the ESPN halftime show. He picked the Badgers as the most overrated team in the Big Ten (fine, whatever floats his boat), but then ripped on a freshman, non-starting (and currently injured) PF/C (Brian Butch) as the most overrated player in the conference. So, he was an All-American in HS, and he's not starting on a top-25 team whose two best returning players happen to play PF and C (or the two forward spots since hte Badgers really play a 3-guard, 2-forward lineup). He's played in TWELVE games in his college career. Heaven forbid he's not playing 35 minutes a game and dominating like most big men do as freshman. He's averaging 15.3 pts and 11.3 boards per 40 minutes played; not outstanding, but he's contributing. How about fellow 2003 All-American and Ohio St forward Ivan Harris? He has an extra season of game experience under his belt, and is averaging 17.4 pts and 6.5 boards per 40-min. Man, he must suck! I guess every other player with talent in the conference must be dominating.

Ugh, the Illiniboard. That thing just keeps getting worse and worse in my opinion. Is there good info sometimes? Sure, but it's like finding a quarter in a shitpile.
At least in my opinion.

That was a fun game last night. I think that was the first time that I've seen Deron look like the guy from last year. If he can find his game without taking away from the rest of the team then look out the rest of the way.
I've got mixed emotions on the whole "loss before the tourney" concept. I suspect that someone will catch them on an off night, but if 32% field goal shooting and 19 turnovers against a Top 25 team (Iowa, at the time was #24) isn't that game, then what will they have to do to lose one? Minnesota is a classic trap game, sandwiched between road games against Wisky and MSU, but I don't know anyone who thinks that is where the losing streak will end. Still, I doubt a whole lot of Wake people thought that FSU was going to beat them the game after they drummed UNC.
I would love to see more college hoops discussion on this board. Illiniboard is pretty tough to swallow sometimes; the bias on all school boards is just ridiculous.
Regarding the Illini Board:
It's pretty much the only game in town, so I guess you have to take the good with the bad. It's a much broader base than here so there's bound to be a few posters who aren't so bright. Fortunately the Weber-bashers have mostly run out of ammunition, and they've either toned down their agendas or are hanging on to bashing his recruiting. I have no doubt that recruiting will pick up the rest of this year and for years to come, not to mention the fact that those already on board aren't looking so bad any more.
It's just a good time to be an Illlini, and I'll take all that I can get. Deron's Mom posts there, although generally not during the season. The czar (crazy painted blue guy with hulk hands), the "chef" they showed every five minutes of the Iowa game, and even Jay Bilas have posted there within the last month. I'll admit that I've had to step away for weeks at a time during the meltdowns, but I always end up going back.
Anyway, I'm all for college hoops discussion here, but I pretty much limit myself to watching Illinois and a few other Big Ten games.
