Ever wake up and realize you haven't scheduled a friendly in two weeks?

Anyone else feeling like they're plateauing?

I'm not quite at the point yet being that I'm just wrapping up my first season. I felt kinda bad about myself for waiting until last night before I set my lineup for my friendly tonight. :)

Not really, been playing for 2 actual years now and while I'm not constantly browsing the transfers and stuff I do log in way more often than I need to. A boring work environment does seem to make it easier to waste time on HT every day though.

similar to hhiipp, I've also been playing close to 2 calendar years and while I log in way more than I need to, I also have some sort of feeling that my team has plateaued. It's kind of normal, when you start out, every little moment when you have money, you spend it to upgrade here or there. When your team gets better, there's less of a need. For me, what keeps me having fun is that huge excel spreadsheet in which I keep track of a bunch of useless fact :) I track stuff, for the fun of tracking stuff. From team spirit level, to fanclub changes (vs supporter mood) to the hottrick keeper level of my keeper (magnificent near world class) to long term training plans to money gained per week trained when I sell a trainee. Yeah, I'm a geek, dork, whatever you wanna call it, but it keeps me entertained...

I gotta say that the last season has been rougher than all the other one before, but that was because I got into a bad streak of bad luck and losses. Overall a rough season in a division that was not really too tough for my team, but given tha bad form, a few unlucky games, turned out to be too much and I demoted. You promoted to III last season, and were unlucky to go to the series you went into. Maybe that's what is making you feel jagged about it all...

I think that being in an active division really helps. There are times when I have become frustrated with my team and its lack of progress, but I have tried to counter that with doing something different. I still wait anxiously for every match that I have. maybe it is that deep competetive drive, and my desire to do the best, spilling over into the game. At one time I was playing hattrick, 2 simsports teams, plus another online basketball game. That lasted for about 6-8 months, slowly I weeded it all down to just HT. I felt that it was just more fun.

I think that when you get to a point, your team stops improving, and that is where the planning and strategy come into play. As you get higher, the competetition gets harder and harder, more planning, strategy come into play. I can't go out and get that 7 star striker that I want. But if I plan carefully I can. It in a way mirrors life, as you get older you need to plan the things that you really need in order to make them happen. As you are younger, it is more exciting, and things happen fast. It is realizing in the end that, in the end, age and wisdom will triumph over youth and excitement every time.

I'd love to get an active series conference going. I've basically talked to myself in V.172 conference for the past three seasons, but I keep on going despite the infrequent responses. I'm hoping the two autopromoters might post this season, but I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I seemed to have hit that plateu. I hope I can recharge my interest. I was hoping to demote to V, but wound up staying in IV. My new division is tough, tough. We will see hoe things go.

i guess my getting bounced around IV and V in the us (5th series in 5 seasons) and for the most part the last 3 series (iv.60, v.181, and iv.14) are active in conference, nevermind 8 teams with supporter in iv.14 now is helping me.. but i'm in the building phase of my team still...

Plateau nothing. :)

Sure, the Hippos haven't improved much in the last 2 seasons, but you should always be at some point in your training schedule. Myself, I'm almost done so my team's about to improve in leaps and bounds when I sell of 3 middies and a bunch of other players and then turn that into less but better players and try to promote.

I stopped caring after I promoted out of D5. Even though I won the series title in my first season in 4, I knew I had no shot at making it to 3, and that basically killed my interest in the game. Getting screwed 3 times each by the engine and the weather last season and coming up one win short of 1st didn't help matters. I think that I may quit after this coming season regardless of what happens since the game doesn't interest me anymore.

That is too bad. The one thing that tends to frustrate me is that average improvement is constant. There is definitely a correlation to length in HT and team success. But that makes it all the more challenging. NOw I know I have to improve at a rate greater than average to get to III, II, and finally ML. Every year is seems that the number of teams that makes the next big step up is roughly equivalent to the number of teams that leave the higher step. This is not totally the case, but can have that feeling.

Still, I enjoy the "way too much" time I spend on HT.

I don't know what's wrong with you people. I've been playing since June 2002 and haven't even been close to tired of this game. Maybe I'm just hardcore :P

Edit: It may help that I have long term training plans and I like the challenge to trying to do better than a bunch of teams that started before I did.

I got bored during last season and stopped paying attention besides setting lineups each week. I think some of the new rules impacted my feelings a bit. I even missed a friendly match or two. My interest picked up again towards the end of the season although it's nowhere near where it used to be. Although that's normal.

...coming up on 20/20...

This man, they call him an Enthusiast, the Ardent kind, is suffering from NTophobia. He will tell us about the nightmares, nonstopping nightmares he's having, about people not being happy with a fictional National Team. Stay tuned...

I've been playing since August '02 and finally after 7 seasons in Div IV, I promote into a very tough Div III series. As far as the plateau is concerned, I know that it's coming, but its not here yet. If your team can't put up 65 stars, then your team hasn't plateaued. The improvement curve levels out, but not nearly a plateau. Hattrick does slow down and your moves have to be more deliberate. You have to have a plan and be disciplined enough to stick to it.

Being in an active series helps alot, but it isn't everything. Sometimes you have to put your head down and just keep on walking. As there are more players in the US, it's going to take more to compete at the lower levels. Hattrick is not for the impatient. It takes a lot of patience to be successful in the game (in the long run).

I've been at a point where HT was starting to get dull. I'm in a Dutch III, and you'd think it would be active, but the conference is dead. I was training PM since i started in june 2002, and it was no fun anymore.

However I changed my training program, started workin with my team with new interest, and that combined with the good contact over IRC and forums has made HT as fun as ever again. :)

I think I'd crap a brick if a series I'm in wasn't just me chatting up a storm in the series conference.
