Anyone have any experiences on PokerRoom.com?

I have been playing with their play money tables to learn a bit, but I am looking at actually dumping $50 into an account and playing this weekend.

Anyone like these guys? Should I run far away from them?

They aren't particularly good or bad. Few people usually rate them as their favorite site to play on.

Played pokerroom and pokerstars and I like pokerstars better. Just a better feel - IMO.

My current online poker site ranking list:

1. Party Poker & skins
2. Crypto skins
3. PokerRoom
4. UltimateBet
5. PokerStars

To answer your question in depth, PokerRoom has a good assortment of fish, but nothing like Party or the Crypto network. They usually have good bonuses every couple of months or so, but take a while to clear. The software is clunky, but I have yet to find software that I'm pleased with. Overall, it's not a bad place to play, but I'd only play it if I was clearing a bonus.

Alright, cool to know...they have a bonus I was e-mailed for my first deposit, plus a ticket to a beginners tournament, so I am thinking I might do it...I don't know if I enjoy the online play, harder to read players, but it's pretty fun as it moves fast.

From the reviews I have read at PokerListings.com and BonusWhores.com it sounds decent enough. The bonuses aren't inordinately hard to clear or anything.

If you are looking for the best mix of software and customer service, you will probably enjoy somewhere like Stars or Paradise more...however their games probably aren't as fishy.

Well not *all* obviously, but since the Party "network" dwarfs every other cardroom/network in size, the law of averages says that there will be more fish. Other fishy spots like Pacific and Crypto are connected to on-line casinos, which are notorious for funneling in loose, clueless poker players.

I am not an expert on this by any means, but my general guess is that sites like Stars and Paradise and UB have reputations that precede them - they are known for being tighter than normal, so perhaps beginners often choose sites which are thought of as "softer." Although if you have ever tried to clear a Crypto bonus at the 1/2 tables early in the month, I can't imagine any site tighter.

My one piece of advice would be to avoid signing up at a bunch of different sites with the purpose of "trying them out." Chances are that down the road, if you stick with this, your bankroll will be big enough that you will be able to maximize the deposit bonuses that come with signing up at a site - but if you already have an account, even a play money one, you will not be eligible (and I am talking about a minimum of $200 for each of the six party skins alone).

Pick one, have fun.
