I just posted this on the FM forums but I figured I would get a quicker answer here.

So I just pulled off the biggest deal of my managing career. I'm managing Everton and did an exchange deal with ManYoo to bring back Rooney. I gave them Yobo and Paul Konchesky who plays left winger for me now. Plus they asked me for 25M after Rooney scores 30 goals in an Everton jersey. My question is, do I need 25M in my transfer funds to complete the deal? I have 22M right now and will be recieving another 15M on July 1st because I sold McFadden to Inter.

better than my problems...

as soon as I take over a team the offense shuts down. Ive increased training in that area, tried all kinds of tactics. Im so frustrated right now, IT SUCKS.

I've never really revealed my tactics to anyone. But I've always had a great attack. I play a 4-1-2-1-2, or what some call a diamond 4-4-2. I push both my wingers all the way up the pitch and set passing down both the flanks. The AMC is always the key player in the formation.
Here's a few of my team instructions:
Menality: Pushed two notches from normal, so its attacking.
Creative Freedom: This kind of varies with the talent of the team, I usually put it up one notch from normal, so its "Much"
Tempo: Normal, but 1 notch over to the right
I don't touch the width slider.
Closing down: 3 notches from the right, it should be still "mixed"
I don't touch defensive line or tackling slider.
Zonal Marking is key.
Tight Marking unticked
Play offside ticked
Use playmaker ticked, I set my AMC as playmaker, then my wingers after that, and then my DMC and then my strikers.
Use target man unticked.

Thats it I keep it simple. It works great.
76 goals last year
58 this year with 32 games played. I lost James Beattie to Man Utd.

I've never had to change my tactic for home or away games, although I do do better at home.

The extra cash comes out of your bank account, as far as I recall. Unfortunately, I've never made it high enough to worry about such details.

You need to have all of the money in your transfer account by the day the transfer goes through.

If you don't have it in your transfer funds, I'm sure it will be removed from your regular funds...but the board may not be thrilled.

No, the transfer gets cancelled.

No, the transfer gets cancelled.

For real? Is it like that in every version? So, the guy would immediately revert back to the other team, and presumably to his old contract?

EDIT:... I get it. He needs to have all of the required funds there when the transfer is made, although he will not have to pay the money until/if Rooney gets those 30 goals.

Sharpieman, I've played several different teams using almost exactly that same tactic. It's surely coincidental, I just stumbled upon it when experimenting a few games back. Although the teams I typically play with have no shortage of talent or funds, it does consistently win me some trophies. It does make me wonder if there is an inherent advantage with that formation, however. 2 does not make a significant sample, unfortunately.

Thats cool. Yea I just stumbled upon it too, I just fooled around for awhile with CM 03/04 and it worked in that version real well. When FM2005 came out I just used the same tactic and its worked well if I have enough talent. Its not unbeatable, but it works.

how do you get fm2005/wwsm2005 in window mode?

also, i use the 4-1-3-2 (three central middies) with the two on the edges etiher playing wing or up diagonal. The center middie is forward... the back 5 and front 2 are left alone.
