I like playing a 3-4-3 but I can't decide if I should play my back three as 2 wingbacks and 1 central defender? Or 1 Wingback with 2 central defenders?

I've heard statements for both. Some say go with two wingbacks otherwise one of your sides will be vulnerable. Others say you can go with one wingback set to defensive and then just use two central defenders.

As far as the 4 in the midfield, I've been told that pretty much you have to run 3 middies and 1 winger. You need the 3 middies to get your 3 forwards the ball. I'm fine with this part, I really only am debating the defender part.

Just curious on thoughts from the vets that post here.

Thanks!

as far as the defenders go. Its best not to always do one or the other. If you play another 3-4-3 team you'll most likely want to have 2 CD's since his Central Attack will be significantly higher than his wing attacks. Reversely (?), if you play a 3-5-2 team with good wing attacks, you want your defenders on the WB spots..

sorry neither answer is right all the time :)

Play it case by case. If the team you are playing has a much better centreal attack then wing attacks then you will want to play with two CDs, if his attack is balance then you will want to have a balance defense by using two WB

Makes total sense. I'll have to watch the teams closer. Thanks!

Yeah. They already beat me to it. Play to your opposition- put guys where your opponent is best at attacking.
