Division V Players

I'm probably going to promote to Div V next season and I was just curious about what type of players I'm going to be needing. I train PM...so basically I'll be looking at upgrading my forwards and defensemen. I'm banking on my top trainee to pop to outstanding by the end of the season...so I plan on selling him when he pops and then using that money to get some upgrades.

So what should I be aiming for? Solid to Excellent forwards and defenseman? Would I need to look for higher than that? Just looking to get some input so I don't go too high or too low.

There's a lot of variance in V, so it really depends on where you end up. To stay up all you'll likely need is a solid-excellent defense and solid-excellent attack, and a decent midfield, if that. To promote to IV and comfortably stay up there for more than a season, you'll need an excellent-formidable defense, outstanding-brilliant midfield, and formidable-outstanding attack. Results may vary depending on where you end up.

It really is a matter of where you end up. The difference between the best and worst series in V is night and day. I currently start 2 magnificient playmakers, a world class playmaker, a titanic keeper, 3 solid defenders, and 3 outstanding trainee strikers. It's only good enough for fourth place so far. In most other series I'd either be winning or in second place. If you can average around 130-140 in a hatstat rating, you'll most likely have no worries about an autodemotion spot and will probably end up somewhere between 3rd and 6th.

After a quick glance at your team it looks like you'll have a good chance of struggling next season. I'd guess you could finish anywhere between 5th and 8th. It will really come down to how tough the bottom three are in your new series as your 6 matches against them will determine wether or not you stay up.

When I started in V, I was solid at middy, and had good scoring trainees, and i was starting original players at winger and defense.... I now have 2 Mag defenders, 2 mag middies, an outstanding middy, WC/Mag/Outstanding forwards, and a formidible winger (1 solid defender and a solid keeper)....

so yea, there's quite a bit o varience!

Is it safe to say that a formidable IM is going anywhere from 1-1.5 mill these days? If so...I should definitely be able to use that money to load up with 5 solid/excellent forwards and defenders combined. I purchased a young mid-excellent keeper last season and my midfield should be formidable to excellent next season. So it looks like I should be fairly competitive.

Yes, I'd prefer to have a couple of formidables rather than 5 solid/excellents. If you can get a formidable central defender and a formidable striker, you'd be in good shape. Then fill in other spots with cheap passables with experience. You're at risk of form changes, but on a whole you're better off and you will have players that will be useful for a much longer time.

I don't think so, but it really depends on secondaries. Outstandings with no secondaries go for ~1 million. I wouldn't really expect more than 750k for a formidable, if that much. Passing can make a huge difference in IM prices, but defending can add a bit too. I recently bought 2 outstandings with no secondaries for a bit over 1 million each, and a brilliant with weak passing/inad defending for 2.1.

Yeah I hadn't thought about it that way...but that definitely is a good idea. I think I'll go this route when the time comes.

world class middies without secondaries go for around 3 million.
