My brother-in-law was getting laser surgery done at an eye clinic that Eli Zaret promotes and may have an interest in. Awaiting the receptionists return he sees a guy and his wife also waiting and realizes its Denny McLain. This is about 2 months ago.

So he says "are you Denny McLain?" and when he hears yes he starts a convesation in which McLain tells him that he and Eli are putting a package together for local media. For those lost at this point and somewhat interested McLain and Zaret were kind of a Skipper/Gilligan team (played them once in a skit) on sports and hugely entertaining.

Zaret I miss very much with or without McLain and would look very much forward to this. McLain can be very entertaining, just count your fingers if you shake hands with him. Still one-of-a-kind character, a real throwback type.

BTW, McLain also trashed Alan Trammell pretty good saying he cost Tigers at least 10 games last year and says that despite all the hype on the Tigers this year their starting pitching is taking them nowheres.

He's out of jail?

From the games I watched last year, Trammell fancies himself a Tony LaRussa type. Makes 5 pitching changes an inning, that kind of thing. I remember one game in particular, they had a 2 or 3 run lead, he started the 8th inning with a righty, who retired a RH-hitting batter, then brought in a lefty, who retired a LH-hitting batter, then with no one on, a 2-3 run lead and a righty coming up, he pulled the lefty for Esteban Yan, who got lit up and blew the game. Assinine.

Yep, funny thing is someone gave him a job (necessary for parole) as a cashier in a Mobile station in Sterling Heights about last year or so. So for awhile you could pump your gas, get your slurpie and pay for it all to baseball's last 30 game winner. Amazing world we live in sometimes. :)

As for Trammell, I don't think he gets the free pass from citicism anymore like he has in the past.
