View Full Version : Who Is A Really Sucky Division I Team in TCY?

Basically I'm looking to start a TCY dynasty, but since I plan on picking up the latest version of FOF at some point and turn it into a TCY/FOF dynasty so I can track my players in the pros, I want a really sucky Division I team that I can build from the ground up that isn't a Solecismic 8 squad.

So, suggestions? :D

Hopefully it'll go over better than the Octopus League dynasty I ported over from the OOTP boards ;)

I fast-simmed through 15-20 seasons a few times with 1.3, just to check this very thing out. The Big 10 seems to be the most "stable" conference in terms of having some strong teams that remain strong. In all of the trials, the one team in the Big10 that didn't do much was Michigan State. I'd consider giving it a shot with them.

The hardest gig in TCY is to start out at a Sol 8 or somewhere and after about 5 years take over a team with low prestige and academics.

I wonder why Michigan State always sucks? http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

Your best best is a team like Michigan State or another lower team from a BCS conference. Preferrably one that has tough in-state recruiting competition or isn't in a talent rich state. For example, Rutgers may not be the best choice because NJ and NY are loaded with talent with only Syracuse and Army in NY and nobody in NJ to compete with for players. Though Penn State does seem to pick up quite a few of them.

It's all relative and with the way the game is set up, it's very easy for a lower conference team to quickly gain prestige by dominating its own conference, so taking a team from the sun belt or sol 8 may get you a worse team than a lower big ten team, it will be easier to get them out of the cellar since landing only a few good players can help you dominate weak opposition early.

Whatever. I'm not talking real life here, I'm talking TCY. Recruiting from Hawaii is real tough given that there are rarely players worth recruiting from your home state, and visits to any other part of the country are very expensive.

I've played plenty with Washington and have had little difficulty, and while WSU would be harder, it wouldn't be that tough. Arizona is close enough to California and Texas to have plenty of prospects to recruit from (even with all the competition). Kansas would be somewhat tough, but I took over a very down Nebraska program in one dynasty and had little trouble reviving them, so I doubt Kansas would be that much harder. Duke with their academic rep would be fairly easy to win with.

The only advantage Hawaii has is that their conference competition isn't that great.

I liked Eastern Michigan as a tough dynasty situation. I used house rules that EMU had to abide by the new NCAA Div 1-A standards including attendance and whatnot.

Great ideas, guys :)

I went with Louisiana-Monroe in the Sun Belt as a test drive dynasty that I won't be reporting on. Went 2-9 in my first season, but I'll see how some of these freshmen I recruited are (Got a 67/100 on Recruiting which is pretty good I think considering I haven't played TCY in a few years)

Meh. Hawaii is not tough to recruit for (recruiting scores of 85, 82, and 91 in the first 3 years). Anyone with (distance) is an automatic signee.
