Ok, quick back story. Yesterday I had a match inwhich I played a 3-5-2 on the road. I didn't check my formation experience, but it couldn't have been below inadequate at the worst case. It had only been 3 matches (1 league and 2 friendlies since the last time I played it). I actually would guess it was closer to passable.
Anyway, during the second half I have a negative formation experience event that said my experience was at  weak  Weak seems awfully low considering it hadn't been that long. Anyone else think so as well?

On a side note, this caused the biggest comeback I had ever seen. I was up 4-0 at one point and ended up tieing the game. They had 5 shot attempts in the second half despite me holding the midfield with 54% after the formation confusion issue.

honestly, I think HT changed the way the experience on formation works (check the high penalty on non experienced formation) and didn't tell anyone (sucks...).

So, yes, the penalty you got on experience doesn't shock me

dola, I think this is one of the worst changes... It doesn't allow teams to switch formation on a regular basis anymore. That creates less diversity in tactical possibilities. SUCKS.

I've also experienced some strange tactical issues. In the past, when I have used a tactic like pressing, my team's tactical skill has generally been weak to inadequate and they don't seem to get better no matter how many times I've used it. For the friendly this week, I decide to attack in the middle for the first time in four seasons and my team's tactical skill is formidable. Had I known this was going to be the case, I would have been using AIM long ago. What gives? How can my team be so good using AIM once and never really get better with pressing after using it 5-6 times?

Your team's ability at tactics is determined by factors other than how many times they have used it, i.e. defending and stamina for pressing, passing skill of all players for aim and aow, etc. Your team does not improve other than buying new players with those skills or of course training those skills. Check the rules for a complete list.

Saintjo - your experience is consistent with what I have seen for at least the last 2 two seasons. I you play a match with passable or less formation experience, you are going to get confusion events that will drop the organization even further.

You can still easily switch between two formations (and maybe three) easily.

It can happen with solid formation skill, but I think that a lot of that has to do with the team captain for the match. Team Captains with high experience can hold the skill together, but I have in the past seen my team get confused when formation skill was at solid going into the match.

solid? wow, i have never had the negative event at solid. i play 3-5-2 in league and 5-3-2 in friendlies. so i routinely switch between the two. I just decided to go defensive one match which explains the skip in the 3-5-2 formation for 1 week.
i just can believe that having a passable formation experience would cause a negative event that would drop my formation to weak. that is a huge drop.

btw, my captain is passable exp with passable leadership. and my overall team exp for the match was poor.

I was shocked about it when I saw it happen. I know for a fact the formation was at solid, though I can't recall which player I had set as captain. It's possible that when I saw it the Team Captain had low experience for some reason or another.
