Ah, this is for 2007, 2 years from now. I was wondering where the hell King Kong was.
What, no Harry Potter? Although this series may be going directly to video by then, that is if it is not animated.
BTW--I can't wait till December to see King Kong. I could of sworn that Tim Burton was supposed to be the Director, not Peter Jackson.

FWIW, the Beowolf they are releasing in 2007 is co-written by Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman; unless I misremember, Zemeckis is attached to direct using a version of the technology from Polar Express. As for Astro City, the geek in me can only hope they make a good version of Kurt Busiek's great superhero book.

Goblet of Fire' toasts box office competition
Sunday, November 20, 2005; Posted: 3:19 p.m. EST (20:19 GMT)
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- The bespectacled boy wizard has worked his biggest box-office magic to date.
"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" grossed $101.4 million in its debut weekend, the best results yet for the franchise, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
The latest Potter movie led a lineup that helped reverse the Hollywood box-office slump, with the top 12 films raking in $171 million, up 19 percent from the same weekend last year when "National Treasure" was No. 1 with $35.1 million.
"Goblet of Fire" was the fourth-best, three-day opening weekend ever, behind "Spider-Man" at $114.8 million in 2002 and "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" and "Shrek 2," at $108 million apiece.
The fourth installment of the adventures of Harry and his curious classmates at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is the first Potter film to earn a PG-13 rating for its fantasy violence and special effects. But that did not deter audiences.
"The Potter franchise is just irresistible to moviegoers," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations. "The combination of the Potter books and the love audiences have for the movies conspired a big opening weekend."
Debuting in second place was the Johnny Cash film biopic "Walk the Line," which took in $22.4 million. The film chronicles the early musical career of Cash, played by Joaquin Phoenix, and also stars Reese Witherspoon as Cash's lifelong love, June Carter. Phoenix and Witherspoon do their own singing.
Disney's computer-animated film "Chicken Little," which held the top spot last week, slipped to No. 3 with $14.8 million. Jennifer Anniston's thriller "Derailed" ranked fourth with $6.5 million and the sci-fi fantasy "Zathura: A Space Adventure" rounded out the top five with $5.1 million.
Based on the best-selling books by J.K. Rowling, "Goblet of Fire" follows 14-year-old Harry, who unwillingly competes against three older wizards in a dangerous Triwizard Tournament. The movie features a dramatic face-off between Harry and Lord Voldemort -- He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named -- the dark warlock who killed Harry's parents and who tried to kill him when he was a baby.
Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., which released "Goblet of Fire," said the results exceeded the studio's expectations. The third Potter film, "Prisoner of Azkaban," premiered last year at $93.7 million. Warner Bros. and CNN are divisions of Time Warner Inc.
"As the audience has gotten older in time, faithful readers of the Potter books will remain faithful to the movies," Fellman said.

Some more fun stats:
http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=1331189
"Potter's" foreign haul of $80 million was led by Britain with $24.6 million, a new record for a three-day opening; Germany with $19.8 million, a new record for a four-day opening; and Mexico with $6.8 million, the third-best opening.
The film was No. 1 in all 19 foreign territories where it opened, the Time Warner Inc.-owned studio said. It adds such markets as Japan, Italy and Spain next weekend, with France and Australia in the first week of December.Exit polling showed that more adults turned up than usual, indicating that the franchise's appeal is spreading beyond families, said Dan Fellman, president of domestic theatrical distribution at Warner Bros.

Why do you think HP will be direct to video? From what I have heard this movie is doing better than the last, so I think thats a pretty baseless claim...

I have to wonder if DBZ will suck. How many cartoons, turned live action movies have done well?

How could a show where, at one point, they had 10 episodes (220 minutes) cover 5 minutes in story possibly go bad when given only 2 hours to make a movie...

I think DBZ is a bit too late when it is released. I dont think its as popular now as it was 5-7 years ago.

Is Toy Story 3 still being made without Pixar? Pixar's deal with Disney runs out after "Cars", and Disney is planning on doing sequels to all the Pixar movies without Pixar being involved...

not mentioned is the Clint Eastwood directed Flags of Our Fathers, about the 6 men who hoisted the flag at Iwo Jima. He will be following that up with another movie about Iwo Jime (Lamps Before the Wind), this time from the perspective of the Japanese.
both are supposed to be released next fall

SOB, I can't believe this. That last Potter movie I saw with the werewolf's was one of the the worst movies I had seen in a very long time. I was dumber than a bag full of hammers on this one.
1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) $102M $102M
And, can I please change my vote on King Kong? I have seen a couple of clips and the movie just looks terrible. No offense to all you computer geeks out there, but sometimes you can over due the CGI thing.

Can't resist ...
Harry's 'Goblet' Nets $54.9 million at Box Office (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051127/ap_en_mo/box_office;_ylt=ArVzktft_C8LELIDhx0iDeNxFb8C;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--)
"Goblet of Fire" shot past $200 million domestically in just 10 days, the fastest of the four "Harry Potter" movies to cross that mark. The fastest-grossing of the previous movies was the first, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which took in $186 million in 10 days. "Goblet of Fire" could be on track to beat the $317.6 million domestic gross of "Sorcerer's Stone," the franchise's most successful installment. In related news, I'm now very optimistic about "King Kong."

Let's not forget the live action Transformers movie scheduled for '07:

...and if I'm not mistaken, there's also plans for a 'Voltron' big screen movie too. The 'Voltron' with the Lions, of course. http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

The movie will suck, but it'll do great at the box office.

I dunno... at this point, Peter Jackson has the benefit of the doubt for me.

This site has a lot of great trailers on upcoming movies. Probably more geared towards 2006 releases.

wow - i wanna see the Wolverine movie and the Abraham Lincoln one. my only gripes is that the Lincoln one is done by Spielberg, he doesn't do rated R movies well, i kinda was hoping for a "The Patriot" (w/ Mel Gibson) kind of Abraham Lincoln movie. "Pathfinder" sounds awesome too.
Spielberg is doing "Munich", man that better be rated R or it is going to really suck! The official movie site has it as unrated right now.

Bad news Chief; I just caught the preview for King Kong at the theater and loved it.
I am very excited for the fact that they are keeping it in the '30s and not trying to bing it into the present like other remakes.

Was there a T-Rex in the 1930's version?

I don't know about the movie sucking... for one as someone already said PJ gets the benneift of the doubt with me, and another so far what I've heard the critics are loving it and it's getting some Oscar buzz.
It's important to note that this is a true re-make of the original 1933 movie, and not a re-interpretation like the 1976 version.

this list is kind of pointless. most of these arent even in production yet, and maybe not really even in pre-production.
...
i would bet over half of that list never even gets made.

Wow, what a bump... though even though I realize WrongWay isn't with us anymore, after 4 weeks, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has pulled in $260mil in the US alone. Far cry from the $81 mil gross he was predicting ;).

Perhaps, but that's like being the guy who was saying Peyton Manning "can't win the big one" prior to the 2006-2007 season.

Still, my favorite Wrongway prediction is that the series will soon go direct to video.
Of course, his failure to understand the documentary aspect of The Office (the horrible actors are staring into the camera!!!) was probably the height of his stupidity.
