I was talking with a friend at work and I brought up a saying that I once heard and has always stuck with me. I started wondering if others also have sayings that help either define their thinking, help them get through tough stretches, or just ones they try to remember when they need a laugh. The first oneI listed below, I actually saw here in someone's Sig and it has always stuck with me and I get a laugh every time I say it.

Build a man a fire and keep him warm for a night.
Set a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life!

:D

The one that I told my friend is:

"Imagine that you are a Billionaire with net assets totaling $6.5 billion dollars.
You are walking down the street when a strong gust of wind pulls a $1 bill out of your pocket and it starts blowing down the street. Are you going to chase down that dollar bill?"

His reply: "No. Why would I do that? I still have almost $6.5 billion dollars."

"There are 6.5 billion people on this planet"

This came about through a conversation where someone disliked me and I was actually stressed that with all the friends that I had, that 1 person for whatever reason did not like me. A guy that I worked with told me this saying and I have always remembered it.

Do others have sayings like this? I would like to see what sayings others have heard and held onto.

My second grade teacher, Mrs. Smith, taught us kids that "A man who knows not, and knows not that he knows not is a fool. Shun him."

Every time I'm around somebody running their mouth about something they clearly don't know anything about, I smile and thank Mrs. Smith.
