From Variety
Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment have bolstered the mutant roster for "X-Men 3" with Kelsey Grammer. Kelsey Grammer, who is set to play Beast, the oversized blue-furred creature who has not yet appeared in an "X-Men" film.
The Matthew Vaughn-directed sequel is skedded to bow Memorial Day weekend next year.
Studio is setting Vinnie Jones for the bad-guy role of Juggernaut. Jones is the former British soccer player who has been seen in "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." Juggernaut, a 6-foot-10, 900-pound metal-clad battering ram, is the half-brother of Professor X and will anchor Magneto's villainous band.
Fox has begun negotiations with "Lost's" Maggie Grace to play the role of Kitty Pryde, a beauty who can walk through walls. Studio is also searching for an actor to play Angel, a handsome winged mutant who is ashamed of his feathery appendages.
While Grammer might seem a surprise to play a 355-pound blue-colored brute, producer Avi Arad said, "Kelsey was born to play the role," explaining that Beast is the most intelligent of the mutants, a pacifist Ph.D. and genetic researcher named Hank McCoy.
"This is a big role in the new movie, and when we met with him, you can see that Kelsey has that you'd-better-have-a-dictionary-handy intelligence," said Arad, who's producing with Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter.
Pic was scripted by Zak Penn and Simon Kinberg, with 20th Century Fox prexy Hutch Parker overseeing the pic with senior veep Alex Young. John Palermo and Kevin Feige are exec producing.
I do see Vinnie Jones making a good Juggernaut though.

There better be some very special effects.

but this is BS. in XMen they already have someone playing Hank McCoy. forgot which movie it was but t was on a tv in the background, McCoy was on a talk show giving an interview.
the person they had playing McCoy looked EXACTLY like the comic book McCoy. it was easily missable.
i always thought the guy with the beard on the original CSI, the lead guy, would have made a great Hank McCoy. oh well.

Guess Kelsey's Sketch Show didn't keep him busy enough. Man, that show was horrid. I don't know how crap like that even makes it on the air.

Although "Girlfriends" from his production company has somehow managed to enthrall me on its BET reruns...

I just read this on rottentomatoes. Yeah, there was some guy on TV in the background in X-Men 2 who played Hank McCoy, but we have no idea if this guy could pull of a roll, beyond a small cameo, in a movie. I am actually not all that upset with the choice. I think Grammer's voice is indeed perfect for the beast and the Beast has always been pretty witty. Grammer can nail that.
I also like Vinnie Jones as the Juggernaught. Very cool.
I agree with HB, I don't think it's a bad casting at all. Grammer can nail the voice and special effects will handle making him look like the Beast.

Exactly. If they decide to go either with the blue furry look or the original look, make-up, effects, and a stuntman will be able to nail the action scenes. I mean, look at Alan Cummings as Nightcrawler. Cummings is hardly known as an "action hero", nut Nightcrawler was great. His assault on the White House has to go down as one of the best action sequences of all time.

Things I know about Kelsey Gramar,
1) He likes the ladies
2) He likes to drink
3) His wife has loose bowels.
That is all.

I'm more concerned about the lack of Bryan Singer directing than I am the casting choice of Kelsey Grammer, though I think it's a bit odd. If he were younger and more athletic I'd say it was perfect. As it is, at age 50 he seems rather old for the role.
Also, Vinnie Jones is nowhere near big enough to convey a convincing Juggernaut, unless they never plan on having him out of his suit.
Given the director's lack of a track record in that role, I'm not holding out a lot of hope that the next one will match the first 2 in quality.

As for Vinnie Jones and the Juggernaught. Is there anyone really big enough to be a convincing juggernaught? Maybe a professional wrestler, but they went down that path with Sabertooth and he sucked.

So what's the deal with Storm then? Halle Berry going to resume the role, or are they finally going to sign up Angela Bassett? http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

Is he the guy who tried out for the Vikings? I'd rather have a smaller Vinnie Jones, thanks.
Folks can do the wrestling to acting thing... Jessie the Body was fine in The Running Man and Predator and The Rock is quite good in whatever he does.

Wonderful, just wonderful. Why fuck with the success that the first two movies had?

i wouldn't mind that. i like the first 2 movies, as far as blockbusters go, but they have this "comic-bookey" feel to them. i'd prefer the movie be as realistic as possible, just normal characters who just happen to have these abilities. i'd have liked to have seen a more adult-feel to the movie than it look like it was appealing to kids.

Although only a teaser trailer, it looks good. But I thought for sure the Sentinels were supposed to make an appearance in this movie. What happened with that?

i am hardly an x-men authority, but if i recall correctly, the guy inside the suit is a little tiny pussy, and he isnt even a mutant, but gets all his strength and power from the suit itself.
if that is a correct recollection, then i think vinnie jones is TOO big.

I know there has to be a reason for a "comic-bookey" feel, I just can't place it.
Oh yeah, it's based on a comic.

just saying, they're all light and fluffy and straight forward, shoulda been more dark and layered. they're just standard popcorn movies. see hero, see hero use his powers, hero defeats villain, wait for sequel. whatever.

Woah. A suit? I don't think you're thinking of the right Juggernaught. The Juggernaught is just a big, big dude. Massive. There is no suit. At least that was the case back in the day. I can't vouch for anything that's happened in, oh, the last 10 years or so.

ok, i was half right, he isnt a mutant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juggernaut_(comics)
the bit about the suit is from an episode i remember of the fox saturday animated series, where cain comes out of the armor and returns to being a normal person, and then someone else puts the armor on and turns into the juggernaut, but i guess that isnt true x-men lore.

Back when I was reading comics, Juggernaut (I think his name was Marko Cain) was a massive man. The only thing his suit did was he changed out his helmet as a psionic defense against Professor X's abilities.
What they've done with those characters since I stopped reading, I have no idea.
