Things I like --

-Passing Rating
-Experience

Things I don't like --

-Powerful Specialty

Not sure how I feel about him yet -- it'll be nice to have him, and the guys I scouted out were usually going for around $3M...but still. Anyways, what do you all think?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just don't see him worth it (tho I think my bad purchase: good purchase comments run about 3:1). I had a outstanding winger with solid passing and he added a decent ammount to attack on that side but I was dancing on the tables when someone gave me $2M for him since I don't think he was even worth that much. Then again, $2.8M isn't awful. The powerful is kindof a crappy thing since you'll always play him offensive so his defensive bonus will be 0 since he will have no defense. If you can bump him up to weak experience, that's not too bad. I think it's just my dislike of wingers coming through- if I had $2.8M to spend, it wouldn't be on a winger

I think it's a solid purchase.

For the attack you get out of a WC winger it's a good value, though juging how my titanic/excellent winger isn't selling for less then $2mil more then that some patience might've gotten you a better price...

I'm still on the ropes on how useful passing is for a winger, but initial judgements have it being as worth a decent sum.

These are just my opinions. So, y'know, grain of salt and all that.

I think it's a solid buy. As a playmaking trainer, you don't need much midfield contribution from your wingers and their contribution to the offense should be nice.

On the other hand, I don't like that his poor playmaking skill. I know that sounds like I'm contradicting myself when I just said you don't need his contribution. I'm not. It's true, you aren't going to be relying on him for midfield contribution. On the other hand, since you will play the guy, he will receive 1/2 training. So to me, a playmaking trainer should be looking at at least inadequate in playmaking when hunting down wingers. When it comes time to recycle that winger out, his playmaking will then exceed passable (how much, obviously, depends on how long), which still seems to be the head-turning stage. The only other negative I can think of, which is close to a nitpick, is that I have come to really appreciate sterling's philosophy on grabbing local players to save on the 20% Salary Bonus. I am not strictly tied to it but I can greatly appreciate what it does and can do t and for your team.

I would forget about your concern over his powerful specialty. Per the Help:Powerful players gain Scoring, Defending and Playmaking skill in rain and lose Scoring in sun. They also get more tired in sun.If my understanding of that set of explanation is correct then your winger, whose playmaking skill is pretty much negligible, will receive no effect from his specialty. Powerful has a higher possibility to get more tired when it's sunny . . . but he has excellent stamina so he can ignore that. Also, the only tactic where powerful becomes a factor is pressing. How often will you actually be trying out pressing? Me, too. :D

That is all for now. I should consider passing out soon, though. :D

Well, you know how finnicky I can be about the transfer market. You've had to listen to it on AIM at 4am many nights. But I think in this case, it's not worth worrying about. I could be wrong as wingers are still witchcraft to me, but it seems that they have fairly low wages compared with their middie, striker, and defensive counterparts of the same level. That's why my big 4 are all American (3 middies and keeper) but everyone else is from wherever I can get the best bargain because the wages savings are almost certainly going to be less than the savings cost of a bargain and getting that extra level or two of extra speciality, experience, or both.

Uhhh, for a fun example, a magnificent winger with weak passing flanking an inner midfielder with solid passing can get me a Passable (Low)* attack while a titanic winger with wretched passing flanking an inner midfielder with solid passing can get me a Solid (Low)* attack.

* NOTE: In the spirit of disclosure, the Passable (Low) side was backed by a wingback with solid winger skill while the Solid (Low) side was backed by one with formidable skill, both playing offensively. On the other hand, wingback's contribution, even playing offensively, is such a minor factor in comparison to others' (5th on the list) that I do not consider them to be a significant factor.
