What is a troll or trolling?
Ive heard it, read it I guess, and thought I knew what it means due to context but I'm really not 100% sure. I post in Political threads alot cuz I guess I'm a politics junkie...so does that mean Im a political troll? Just looking to finally solve this in my brain. Thanks in advance.

I think it's a word which definition is still in flux. Originally I think it had to do with sex.

A troll is a make-believe creature that lives under a bridge.
Trolling would be "kicking-it" under the bridge with that troll.

Troll (v): To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself.
Troll (n): An individual who regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. See: Derek Smart.

Well, according to Skydog, I'm trolling in this thread (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?t=38521&page=1&pp=50&highlight=runaway+bride).
I like the wikipedia definition, though. I've always thought that trolling was stirring up trouble for the sake of stirring up trouble.
Unfortunately, however, in heated discussions where two sides are far apart in viewpoints, it's easy for one side to believe the other is just being inflammatory.

Maybe because some of your posts in that thread come off as belligerent or attacking others for their opinions?
There is a difference between a Troll, and a FOFC Troll.

I don't think we have a full-time troll. We've always been careful to ensure that people don't step over a certain line.
I would think that our top two trolls are Hell Atlantic and Chubby. Neither is a full-time troll in the classic message-board sense. We all have our trolling moments...

I dont believe its someone who disagree's with you. It is someone who makes it a point to call you out, or tries to intentionally get your panties in a wad on a consistent basis.
