The Rio buffet is over-rated.
Do the ride at the top of the Stratosphere. At least walk through the Bellagio - it's amazing. See the Fremont Street Experience and gamble downtown a little. Go to the both clubs at the Palms.

What buffet is the best. I want hot Alaskan King Crab legs...Bellagio only seemed to have cold one's when I was there last.

My Vegas trips revolve around drinking beer and playing blackjack until the money runs out. Sorry, not much help here.

Okay, at the MGM... here's a great play for a nice afternoon.
Head down to the sports book area -- you'll be on the end of a zone full of restaurants and such. Right before you actually enter the hardcore sports and race book area, there is an old-style mechanical horseracing game. Get a seat there, wait if you must.
Play the horseracing game for 25 cents a pop. It's plenty of fun.
Order free Coronas, as many as you can handle. That's plenty of fun, too.
Great times.

I remember that game in my drunken stupor. I got very belligerent as I routed for the #6 Horse (only has horses 1-5).

When I've been to the Rio buffet, the food is all gummy and hard from sitting out endlessly. They do have hot lobster and crab, Flasch. Feel free to try it out, but if there's a two hour line, I'd try the one at Caesar's.
And the clubs are a bit empty until 11:00 or so, yes. 54 and the one at Mandalay Bay fill up earlier it seems.
Edit: I agree with the sports book plan too. I like the Paris one, but they aren't wildly different. They are the best place to sit and be able to hear yourself think instead of the piped slot machine sounds. Pop a roll of quarters down at a video poker machine where you can still see the screens - drink yourself into oblivion. Then for lunch.... ;)

Do not listen to this man. He will send you straight to Shoney's.
Edit: I retract that. I was somehow reading that he was disparaging the Aladdin buffet, which is blasphemy. He can trash the Rio all he wants, fine with me.

Go to the Samba Brazillian Steakhouse in The Mirage. All you can eat meat. The waiters just keep bringing out swords full of meat. I think there are about 9 different kinds. Starve yourself for a while and then go there. Meat coma....mmmm.

If you're looking for cheap thrills, try Slots O' Fun which is between the Westward Ho and Circus Circus. It's $0.50 or a $1 for Corona, Heineken and Amstel. The tables are relatively open and they have low limit stuff. You can either pay for the cheap beer there and walk down the Strip with it, or sit and gamble all night, drink for free, and not get the roll-eyes at one-dollar blackjack hands and nickel slots. If you do this, though do NOT pass out next to the Westward Ho pool. They frown on this.

If you are on the craps tables in a drunken stupor, don't try to exchange your dollar chip for a $10,000 chip, the dealers and pit bosses frown upon this. I was very persistent in the trade but they didn't think it was funny. Maybe because it was 8am and I was already lit up.
If you can find a game called Sic-Bo, try that one out. If you are under 5'4, over 65 and asian you will fit right in.

We saw "Legends" at either Harrahs or the one next door, I believe. Depending on who they are impersonating that can be a great show, if they have a Shania Twain... woooo momma she was smokin'.

Wow, this is incredible. I too love the horseracing game (there is another one in NY, NY I think, but the MGM one has seats and is better situated). It is funny to see how many FOFC members have been drawn there. At the last bachelor party I went to, we were in the proper state of drunkenness to really enjoy the game. It is a great moment when you and your friends all are shouting at the respective mechanical horses and a large crowd begins to form because people think something is actually happening. We put on a quite a show and it was definitely a good time.

And there is something else I can wholeheartedly endorse. While other clubs are a little more upscale, the cramped atmosphere with wall-to-wall women is quite a sight to behold. When you can't move a step without getting a lap dance it is a good world. And the leather seats are quite comfy.
One warning, though - Vegas clubs cater to almost all fetishes, so beware of the far corner where you have fat and mature strippers (unless that is your thing).

The Foundation Room is a bar/restaurant at the top of the Madalay. If you can swing it, eat dinner there. One of the best meals I've had. If not, going there for a drink is definitely worth it. It's a great atmosphere. The view from the balcony looking back up the strip is awesome.

The Buffet at the Wynn is worthwhile as well. There are hot king crab legs, but I don't believe they had lobster. They did have rack of lamb and skirt steak in addition to Prime rib though.
You can carry drinks on the street in Vegas.
Oh and Cheetahs is a wonderful place. It isn't as upscale as many others, but there are plenty of girls there. In fact you can walk in at 7:30 in the morning and get lap dances all day long if you choose. As for the far corner...I saw it, and was just thankful that the women working that area stayed over there.
You will love the Mystere show...it is one of my Vegas favorites.

If you're a poker type and want to play small stakes, Excalibur has a wonderful 1-3 spread game with only one $1 blind. You can play forever and get a lot of free drinks in the process.
X-Scream and Bigshot on top of the Stratosphere are a must. You will never find a ride you are more fearful of going on and you'll never be more glad that you rode a ride than when you finish riding them.
Aladdin's buffet was fantastic when we went there and is rated #1 on the strip. Champagne included at brunch.

My (20) buddies and I were in Vegas right before this past Thanksgiving, and we were at Foundation Room on our last night. We went all out...limo from our hotel to Mandalay Bay (turned out to be cheaper than taking a bunch of cabs), reserved tables in separate rooms (there's I think 4 different rooms) in roped-off areas with our own security guard, etc. Needless to say, the experience there made it our best night out. Just being to go out onto the balcony and see the view was incredible. Want a sneak peek :)?

Holy Crap! I thought CBF and I were the only ones that new about the old-mechanical horse racing thing! That is great at 2am when your drunk! We played it at the Luxor.
Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY is a blast at night. We also played roulette in the casino at NYNY for 9 hours straight and came out HUGE in the end. Try it out.
Mandalay Bay has an all you can eat buffet with all you can drink Champagne on Sundays.
Caesar's Palace has Tequila Joe's yard Margarita's which are good. The first one is like $15, but refills are only $4. We went back to that place all week long.
There's an outside bar & stage by Harrah's that's always hoppin' at night.
Monte Carlo has the Main Street Cafe....great Italian.
Blue Man Group at Luxor.....good show.
Try the Gold Nugget Casino. It's one of my favorite originals.
Definately hit up the Bellagio and the Venetian just for sight seeing. They're amazing.
The best sports book, I think, is at Caesar's Palace.
Little known fact: the San Remo Hotel right across the street from MGM has a good restaurant called the Paparrazzi. Try their Prime Rib with garlic mashed potatoes. Excellent!! San Remo also has a little deli called Luigi's that has great subs.

Never been to the one in Vegas, but flawless women does fit the Rhino profile.
Just a couple of comments on other things mentioned.
Buffet, I've never been to the Aladin buffet, but one of my friends who visited the Yynn buffet with me said the Wynn's was comparable.
Poker Room at the Excalibur...This is an excellent place to play relatively low stakes. It is great to play poker with a bunch of drunken Noob tourists who watch celebrity poker showdown on TV. Then again that is pretty much any Card Room in Vegas these days. Well except the Wynn. Expect to be on a waiting list for anything less than a $10-$20 game. When we were there they had almost a full table playing $2,000-$4,000.
The Sports book at Ceasar's is great, but I really liked the book at the Wynn. We were there for the Trinidad fight, and I loved the great seats and personal flat screen monitors at each station.
And lastly, I too have found the .25 competitive horse racing machines to be addictive.
We just went there for our honeymoon. It was my first trip to Vegas and I had a really good time. We stayed in a suite at the Bellagio that had more square footage than our house...it was awesome. Mystere was a great show, I think you'll really enjoy it. Make sure you get there and seated a little bit before showtime...
We ate at Dishes, the buffet at Treasure Island before the show. It was just ok, but I'm not a big buffet guy anyway.
Have a great trip!

No one has really mentioned this place, but I stayed at the Paris when I was out in Vegas for business recently and really liked it.
A bit quieter but still with all of the amenities. I really liked the way the casino was set up, very relaxed and casual with great lighting... Feels a lot like you're in a park at just before sunset.. very cool.
Made a couple of strip walks and visited Caesars, MGM, Mandalay Bay, etc... I was more relaxed at the Paris though, playing Blackjack and drinking free Jack & Cokes and Margaritas.
Also, the pool area was a good time, with plenty of eye candy about. I can see why the "pool view" rooms are so hard to come by. :)
Had a business dinner one evening at Maggiano's near the Fashion Show Mall on the strip.. Very good italian, but more of a special romantic occasion than a working dinner kind of place.
Also was able to make a late trip to the aforementioned Cheetah's. Unlike any other "Gent's Club" experience I've ever had (which isn't many). A very good time, with the young females willing to do lots of freaky things that aren't normally allowed in most places (at least the places I've been to).

I have only lived here for 6 months, but I do the buffet thing twice a week so here is my take.
Bellagio (friday and saturday dinners) the king crab legs are cold but they are cut, and the Chilean Sea bass is worth the $35
Wynn- Very good food, freshly squeezed juice, very spacious and unique dinning area.
Wynn and Bellagio are gourmet food but are the best on the strip.
TI- If you like bbq and fresh salads and fresh Sushi very good. Small but the bbq is grilled fresh on a specially made grill. Seeing the pig on the grill is cool.
Mirage-Good tasting food nothing fancy but well done.
Rio- Lots of food but does not taste very good. The seafood buffet was better value for me because of the little lobsters.
Aladdin- Over rated. Food is ok but the dinning area is small and if you get a table near the cashier you'll have ass (not strip club ass either) in your face from people trying to get to the food.
Other buffets to consider would be Mandalay Bay (get a window table)
Paris- crappy service but the wife liked the food.
If you are awake for breakfast and you want pancakes The Original Pancake House (not Ihop) best pancakes I ever tasted there are 3 or 4 of them around the valley,
Green Valley Ranch would probably be the closet to the strip.
This is just my opinion but buffets and food in general is a hobby.

It may not be your thing, but one of the coolest things I saw in Vegas last year when my wife and I went was the Bellagio fountain dance. I liked it so much, I saw it 3 times. The time it was some classical song was just spectacularly cool.
