RIP George Mikan

I just heard this on ESPN Radio that Mikan died sometime yesterday. May he rest in peace. I saw a piece on him on Sportsenter a month back and I never thought those pioneers were in dier financial troubble after all theyve done and the sucess of the sport. I was shocked to learn thast he had to sell all his memorabilia and only received a 45,000$ pension annually. That isnt right at all.

I remember reading a basketball almanac that told the first 40 years of the league when I was a kid. The author(s) made Mikan sound like a mythical creature. I wish I had got to see him played. :(
