View Full Version : Spirits Watching?

This came up in a recent conversation with Mrs. Coug, and I thought I'd toss it out for discussion.
Please note that you must concede the existence of an afterlife for purposes of the discussion. ;)
So the question is this:
Do spirits (i.e., people who have gone to heaven, angels, ghosts, or whatever you want to designate them) watch we mortals living our daily lives? If so, is it constantly or periodically? Do you ever wonder if a dead relative is watching you do something?
Discuss.

That's crossed my mind from time to time. It's sometimes more of a moral compass to think that grandma is watching more than God is watching, which is kinda off I suppose.

I can't imagine that watching the living would provide much comfort to someone who's passed beyond. There've got to be more interesting things to do.

Where is Jason Tobias when you need him? He would know the answer.

I think that they do occassionally watch us from beyond in between other wholesome things they do wherever it is they are.

You underestimate Tobias's insight into the world. His ideas spanned well beyond the coming of weasels. He was truly gifted.

Dead men tell no lies...they leave the lying to the women.

There are many who take Hebrews 12:1--"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles..."--to mean that the "cloud of witnesses" are those in heaven that do watch. This is so interpreted because "Therefore" would seem to reference back to chapter 11, where are listed a dozen or so dead heroes of the faith, and "witnesses" implies they're watching. This is a common, though vague interpretation, as this could also imply that we are to BE heroes of the faith, becuase like those listed, there are many alive who are watching us.
There is also a reference or two in Revelation that could be taken to imply those in heaven watch those on earth, but I don't know those off the top of my head.
Regardless, it is clear biblically that angels and demons watch.

If I were an angel or demon, I'd be watching a lot of porn for free.

Try hard to not think about Granny watching over you next time you're whacking off.

Rufus: "You know what the dead do with most of their time? They watch the living. Especially in the shower. "
