The weakest link on my team is my 2nd winger position. I have been wondering which guy I should start. I play a 3-5-2 with wingers in the offensive position.

My current starter has been this guy. He is also my set pieces guy:

Maarten Keessen
34 years, solid form
Has excellent experience and weak leadership abilities [Technical]

Stamina: formidable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: solid
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: brilliant

I have been thinking about giving my backup defender a chance at winger:
(possibly playing him at a defensive position)

Cliff Henning
35 years, passable form
Has excellent experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: inadequate
Winger: excellent Defending: excellent
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: passable

It would be great if any of you winger poeple could sound off. Winger is still a position I dont have a very good understanding off.

Thanks

Keessen would be better as a winger to the middle

Henning would be better as a normal or offensive wingback, maybe as a normal winger.

If you really want to play one of them as an offensive winger I'd choose Henning, but in my opinion you should buy someone else.

Well, I'm not really a 'winger person' (:)), but here's my 2 cents on wingers...

Wingers contribute the following:

1) Quite a bit of Wing Attack (measured by their Winger Skill, with a dash of Passing)
2) A little bit of Midfield (measured by their Stamina and Playmaking Skills)
3) A little bit of Wing Defense (measured by their Defense Skill)

So wingers are really your jack-of-all trades guys. They 'need' good Winger, PM, Stamina and Defense. Personally, I completely ignore a winger's defense -- they don't really seem (to me, anyways) to contribute much to the defense anyways. I'm a PM trainer, so my wingers get training. Usually, my wingers have tremendous PM because of it. I usually play one winger Towards the Middle, and the other I play Offensive. Lately, that's because one of my Wingers is World Class in Winger, and the other is Solid (with Outstanding PM). But I think that's the strategy I'd adopt anyways -- gives yourself one strong wing attack, and helps contribute to the midfield as well.
