I haven't had poison ivy in probably 10 years or more.
Last Tuesday I was out in the yard chipping golf balls. One went in the woods, so when I was done, I go over and hack away with my wedge. I couldn't pull it towards me, so I reach in and grab the ball. Played softball wednesday no problem, played golf thursday no problem. By Thursday night my wrists, hands and thighs have a nice ivy rash. I go out in the backyard Friday and the ivy plants are clear as day now that I know what they look like.
It's annoying as shit. I've been using rubbing alcohol to dry it out, calamine when I am home, and clear caladryl when I am at work. It's been 5 days, but it hasn't really been healing up much.
Any suggestions?

There is some stuff called Calagel you might look into. I works pretty well on drying out the rash.

Dola,
I had hoped this was going to be about the string of Poison Ivy movies with Alyssa Milano and Jamie Pressley.

Try taking some strong Antihistamine. It should remove the itching completely.

As well as knocking you the hell out for like 5 hours! :) (it really depends on which one you take, though.)

I've got the rash, and Calagel is working very slowly. The blisters are spreading everywhere, and its been almost two weeks since I was exposed to the ivy. I don't know how it keeps spreading, since all the info I've gathered says that scratching doesn't spread the blisters (that's hard to believe though).
But what I wanted to ask was how do I get rid of poison ivy in my yard. I believe there is very little of it, but I'm sure as hell not going to go near it. I've been spraying Roundup on the English Ivy that predominates the little patch of woods in my yard, but its not working. I was hoping to kill off the English ivy in order to work my way toward the poison ivy, and hoping Roundup would kill both. Any other ideas?

The requisite Alyssa Milano reference by post #3. Not too shabby...

My wife has gotten it pretty badly two years in a row and she had to go the doctor to get a shot (I think it was either cortizone or steroid), but that seemed to be the best remedy. Watch that it doesn't get infected or it can lead to other problems.

Roundup will kill poison ivy. I've had some around my yard, and that's how I get rid of it.
