I have all but given up on concertgoing anymore, but Mrs. Q heard about Los Straitjackets coming to Annapolis, and locked up a table of seats (it's a dinner-stage layout, wholly improper for surf guitar, but we'll take it).

ANyway - for those who remember this old thread (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?t=15528) about this band... I wil be reporting back on the show.

I expect significant hearing loss, but probably not the same two-day drunk as the last show.

Excerpted from earlier thread:

If you're not familiar (and I reckon most aren't) here's the setup:

Four southern white guys
All black clothing
Mexican wrestling masks
Surf guitar

Really a tremendous show - best time I've had in a long time. I, of course, cannot hear today... but I suspect and hope that this will pass in time. They really stick with their basic schtick -- the "lead" (it's instrumental stuff, and there are really two lead guitarists, but the guy who talks between songs) basically sticks to rapid-fire high-pitched Spanglish, with an occasional obvious English word or name thrown in for effect:

"blee blee blee muchas gracias blee blee hika hika grande hika hika nosotros blee blee BALTIMORE MARYLAND ... blee blee todos blee blee hika hika EDDIE "THE CHIEF" CLEARWATER"

Anyway - if this sounds like your cup of tea, check them out here:

and if you were looking for an album to start with, I'd recommend:
