Aside from being the necessary weight to make a position move possible, has anyone else come to the conclusion that experience is by far the most important factor in determining the success of a player move?

And I'm talking about the most realistic of player moves, one you might see in real life. For example:

CB --> FS
OT --> G
G --> C

I have to admit I've never played much with moving guys around (it really isn't very necessary in single player, where assembling a super-team is relatively easy). But in my most recent solo career I starting thinking about moving one elder player, and he made a nearly seamless transition to his new position. I then tested with a handful of players (15-25 or so) and I found that veteran players (the older, the better) made the best transitions.

Also, while paying attention to the % of the proposed change is important, i fine the text below it to be a much, much better gauge of the success of a position change. ('significant experience reduction, large experience reduction, slight experience reduction, etc). Basically, it appears the % gives you a solid clue as to what the player's overall potential is while the text spells out how much is immediately going to be red bar.

Anyone have any thoughts to share?

Just that I've hit or miss on this a fair bit, but it does seem like if you have a MLB or other inside linebacker with really low Play Diagnosis, he boosts up a bit when you shift him to the outside.

I've noticed a veteran DE improve when moved to DT also. His individual ratings stayed the same, but his overall rating went up by 3 points. This suggests to me that the overall ratings for DE and DT are calculated differently, using different weights for each of the individual ratings. This is something I suspected already, and intuitively makes sense since the positions require different skills.

For the record, the player in question had a higher run defense than anything else, and his pass rush technique was fairly low. Again, this makes sense to me from a football point of view.

Back to the original question by corey, though, he is a 12 year vet and I have noticed anecdotally that vets do seem to make the transition much better.
