What is everyone’s opinion on type of coach to buy?
I was always told to get the opposite of what you train. As in if you train defenders, get a offensive coach and so on. Is this still the way to think?
I am a PM trainer and was looking to get a new coach this next season, I was looking to get an offensive coach thinking it would be better to try to score more goals than to boost my defense.
Waiting for your reply
Thanks

I train mids and I have owned all three. In my situation, I was a mid-pack div V team this season and the defensive coach led me to a win, four draws and two losses. I switched over to an offensive coach and finished out the season 4-1-2. I've also had a "neither or" coach, but that was when I was in Div VI and none of my leaguemates knew what they were doing and I just rolled over them by default. So I can't offer much insight there.
What made me make the switch to offensive is I looked at the top division in Sweden and every single team in that league has an offensive coach. So if it works for them, then I figured it would work for me. :)

i've always had offensive coaches...
i'm pondering switching to a neither/nor coach soon as my coach has wretched leadership (but is still solid coach)...
not really sure what to do.. I've got 3 future coaches on my team sooo...

For a playmaking trainer, offensive coach seems the superior choice. As you said Osh, if you can take hold of possession, it's offense that'll win you games.

I'm a PM trainer and have never had anything but an "offensive-minded trainer"...until now. When I switched coaches (see thread "1 year, 6 days") I switched to a "neither offensive nor defensive" coach. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference in my ratings both ways.

The way I've seen it if you're expected to win the mid and are better in most of the games attacking is definitely the way to go. Defensive is for when you're going to be outclassed want to keep things close and sneak a few wins.
I'm still on my original (random draw) solid defensive coach, have the best wingers and strikers earning me the 4th best attack... Going to likely switch coaches (to offensive) after next season when my midfield starts being better then my opponents.

I had an offensive coach, but I found near the end of my last season of keeper training that my defense was falling behind that of my series-mates. I dropped back to a neutral coach, and it worked wonders -- I picked up at least 10 points of CSI on the defensive side at a much smaller cost in offensive ratings.

Interesting. I was wondering the same thing as I will be changing coaches before the new season starts. I have always had an attacking coach, but have been considering the neutral coach, especially since I am currently upgrading my attack. If my attack stays the same or slightly increases and my defense can get noticeably better, I may go with the neutral coach.

I don't guess I lost more than maybe three to five CSI points, and I picked up significantly more than that on the other side of things.

Dola, it should be pretty easy to locate the switch for me last season on Hatstats, the spike in my defense ratings should stand out.

Just like Mr Wednesday, I went from an attaking coach to the neutral coach and I saw a better rise in my defense than a loss in my attack. I prefer the neutral coach. Unless, my defense is so stifiling that the tradeoff for the attack is worth it.
