View Full Version : Gas = Scarce; Beer = Plentiful

One of the guys in our office is claiming that because companies have no place to deliver beer shipments meant for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, they're delivering them to college towns in nearby states (read: Tallahassee and Gainesville), where they are selling at ultra-discount prices. Apparently, you can get 18/20 packs for $4 or $5 each. He claims a friend in Gainesville bought 20 20-packs for $100.

Anyone seeing this phenomenon?

Hmmm...is it worth the gas to drive up to Denton to see if there's cheap Shiner there?

Hmmm... most states I know of regular prices of alcoholic beverages - meaning there's realy nothing as "deep discount" beer. But, there's a first for everything, I suppose. Guess it's possible.

That makes the gas prices worth it. At least I can stock up on beer easily. You can't stock up on gas easily.

I'm in Gainesville and I haven't seen it, but with the first game of the season this weekend, I am sure I'll be heading out to pick up some beer soon. Any store names?

Wouldnt it be pretty illegal to sell beer straight off a truck?

The looters took the other 4 cans from the suitcase.

I thought it was a new beer tax.

Only in the Bible Belt. It's called the "beer tithe" and you must give 1/6th of your beers to the church.

I remember when I was in California they had lots of wacky pack sizes I don't see here in New York/NJ. I do believe 20 packs were among them.

For me usually there's nothing but 6/12/30.

I have only seen 20 packs of bottles as well.

18, 24 & 30 are the bigger packs in cans.

It's funny. I learned my 3 and 7 multiplication tables easily because of football. I'd daresay my kids learned their 6 and 12 multiplication tables easily because of my beer.
