Shane Steichen lost the game for MY ALMA MATER! Kid has no awareness at all. Im gonna call EA to decrease his awareness on NCAA 06.
24-22 New Mexico. Steichen threw an INT after a recovered onside kick to lose the game.

But Steichen at times during the game looked like Alex Smith. I hope he develops.

I thought he looked very solid. The int was a poor throw, and what was up with all those delay of game penalties? Does UNM not have a game clock visible on one side of the field or something?

But other than that, Steichen looked good to me - he throws a nice ball and is pretty mobile on his feet. He's better than some guys I've seen playing in BCS conferences (ie Patterson, Stocco, Zwick).

He was better than expected though. Looked more mobile so far this season than last year. We'll probably win 6 if not 7 games this year with the spread offense. A breath of fresh air for all of us here in Vegas (for 6 seasons we had Coach Robinson's conservative offense). Steichen will throw at least 24 tds this season and live up to expectations (Sacramento Bee's 2002-03 Cal. Qb of the year) under the spread offense. There may not be a bowl game this year but the
team will be much more competative this year than last.

They had a little tag on Steichen at the start of the game stating he used to be a punter for Boise State. And Memphis' starting QB was their kicker last year...

I missed the whole 1st quarter (buying draino), didnt see that. I think Steichen's brother was the punter for Boise State 3-4 years back, dont know about Memphis though.
