Okay i just had 3/5ths of my oline go down in 2 weeks. What setting do you guys use on for the injury setting?

I usually use 150, sometimes 200 if I want it to play for realism.

Okay so at 100 what does that mean? The higher the more injuries or vice versa?

higher = more injuries.

Okay then what are some of you other guys finding are realistic settings?

i think the consensus settled a while back on somewhere around 200 as being the most realistic. personally i just set it at that once upon a time and never changed it

I like 150 as I find it is a nice balance of fun without being too unrealistic. However, I think 200 gives the most realism.

Really? 200 the most realistic? I've been playing with the setting at 100 and am getting a fair amount of injuries. Has this setting at 200 been tested? Because I do not want to have season ending injuries every week. What amount of injuries would you get at 200? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure people (SkyDog comes to mind) have tested settings and found that 200 was closest to reality. We use 150 in IHOF (http://www.fof-ihof.com) and most people agree that it's a pretty good rate, with a few wanted to go higher and a few wanting to go lower.

Yeah, in terms of getting correct stats, and comparing injuries to real life, 200 is the most realistic. (Even amdaily admitted it after much kicking and screaming. ;)) In fact, I'm fairly sure at one point that Jim said he thought that 200 might be a little too low in terms of real-life injuries.

I had a season yesterday at 200 just yesterday where all four of my starting defensive linemen started all sixteen games. Some people don't want to deal with the number of injuries at 200, and that's up to each person to determine what is "fun" for them, but with a coach who excels at injury avoidance, proper training camp and "use injured players" settings, I'm getting 0-5 players on the IR per season with injuries at 200.

Another thing you have to remember is to keep your stadium turf in good shape. I had a few years in a row where I had a stud go down with a knee injury, and checked my turf. Sure enough, it was only in fair shape, replaced it, and the injury bug went away. This was with injuries set to 200.

FWIW, I've gotten the impression that a number of people around here feel almost like they're "slaves" to injuries, in that nothing can be done about them. I've found the opposite to be true--that quite a bit can be done to lower them significantly, even with the setting at 200.

So the major factors that play into injuries are:

Global Injury Setting
Coach/Staff Injury Avoidance Rating
Stadium Turf Condition
Age of Player
"Injury Proness" of Player

"Injury Proness" of PlayerYes, and this clearly gets established over time. VPI is able to track this stuff at IHOF, and with some guys it's like clockwork. You know they're going to get injured, the only question is when.

for example, one of my guards (Stephen Lavender) (http://www.fof-ihof.com/player/player.php?playerid=1567)

Global Injury Setting
Coach/Staff Injury Avoidance Rating
Stadium Turf Condition
Age of Player
"Injury Proness" of PlayerTraining Camp allotment
"Use Injured Player" percentage setting (I haven't specifically tested this, but have pretty strong anecdotal/perception evidence that it is true.)

Yes, we have something similar in the NAFL which tracks career injuries. Very useful tool when it comes to making offers in the Free Agency periods on whether you should drop a ton of money on that FA Offensive Lineman. Then you search the Database and find out he is routinely injured.

This would be a nice feature in a newer version of FOF. :)

As far as the 200 injury setting. I think I will try 150 first and go from there. Thanks for the heads-up guys.

I just use games started / played. It's not precise (young developing players may miss games because they are young and developing), but it works in the vast majority of cases to determine who is making it through an entire season and who is missing games.

Sometimes with that though you can't tell, as you stated, that they missed the games because of they were backing up a position or if they were indeed injured. I have some dent backups on my roster that only show about 3-5 GP'd and they weren't injured at all.
