I have to ask why? Mora dominated Manfredo, there's really nothing to prove.

Yea, I'll probably watch it and it's in HD so that is a big plus.

Because the money is easy Mac.

I'll watch it but if they are only going to fight 5 and 7 rounders then I will be disappointed. Some of these guys were going 10 or 12 rounds before the show. Take the kid gloves off of them!

The undercard fights tonight are going to be 5 rounds long again and the rematch between Manfredo-Mora will be 8 rounds. Manfredo was on the radio yesterday and said that they had asked for the fight to be 12 rounds but ESPN would not go for it.

WAR MANFREDO!

This is going to start after midnight on the east. I'm sure that is good for ratings.http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Gomez is a very gutty fighter. Manfredo was highly ranked before the Contender started from what I can remember.

I never knew they had different size rings for boxing. I thought there was a standard dimension.

WTF was that?! Yea he was getting his beat, but he wasn't defenseless.

They are usaully around 20 feet wide, but can be a few feet shorter or longer.

As for the stoppage, it wasn't a horrible stoppage but not really a good one either. I can see the ref's side of it, but he was fighting back so it should have kept going.

No fucking way Brinkley won that fight. Total robbery. Never let those judges work again. Just horrible. Even the crowd who was 100% behind Brinkley are booing that decision.

I walked away half way through the 5th Rd. Came back to the TV just now and saw that Bonsante lost????? What fight were those judges watching? Was it a split decision?

I've found this fight to be quite entertaining so far.

I have it 6 rounds to 2 for Manfredo Jr. Let's see if the judges screw up this one too. Edit: Yup.

Unbelievable. At worst, it was 5 rounds to 3 rounds for Manfredo. These judges are terrible.

What a joke! This is why I don't pay a dime for any pay-per-view event.

3 fights tonight. 1 was stopped by a ref prematurely and the 2 were just absolutely horrible decisions.

And people wonder why boxing can't gain mainstream acceptance....

not a boxing fan at all but could the fact that a boxer just died be playing on the ref's mind?

I'm sorry to say I fell asleep last night. Damn you Florida State for throwing so much!

Wasn't it supposed to come on at 11 EST? I fell asleep about 11:35.

I really enjoy watching boxing. I consider myself a casual fan - not because I only watch it on occasion, but because I realize that there is so much about boxing that I do not understand. I couldn't even begin to sit here and talk about angles, effective aggressiveness or ring generalship which are very key components that fights are judged on. And to be honest, unless I spend a lot of personal time trying to learn these things I never will - boxing just isn't televised enough for me to pick it up that way.

Therein lies the problem with boxing and why it is no longer a mainstream sport. The overwhelming majority of the time it just isn't casual fan friendly. The only weight class that is casual fan friendly is the heavyweight division. Why? Because people routinely get KTFO, which is exciting in and of itself. More importantly knockout eliminate the need for fights to go to the judges. Therefore casual fans don't end up at the end of the night saying things like "the fight is fixed" or "why did I waste my money on this?" Stop and think about the last time boxing was truly popular in America - during the Mike Tyson era.

My girlfriend watched the fights last night and was very interested in them. However, after the two decisions she was just like, "Why did I waste my time watching this when the right person didn't even win?" She will probably never watch another boxing match with me again. Had the fights ended with a clear cut winner she probably would have watched boxing with me again. Instead she is a fan lost for boxing because she doesn't agree with or understand the way the fight was judged.

Just as an FYI I clearly had Bonsante winning over Brinkley. I also felt that Manfredo had done enough to beat Mora.
