George was far and away the funniest character, and the only sympathetic character.

sympathetic?
George is great because he was in no way shape or form sympathetic! He deserved everything that happened to him, and he knew it and embraced it!

Just watched The Opposite episode. George kicks ass!
But I also have to give credit to Jerry for his total disregard for others. I loved how they would get worked up about the smallest slights that went against them, but then show no real emotion when George's fiancee dies. Great stuff! And I loved the series finale, even though a lot of people didn't like it. They laugh at a guy getting mugged and end up in jail for it, and Neuman almost chokes to death laughing at Jerry. Second greatest pure comedy series to The Simpsons.

In the context of the show, I mean. And I do think there is a little bit of George in all of us.

My fiancee' claims to be a huge Seinfeld fan but last night I quoted that line and she was totally lost. Glad to know I'm not the only one who remembers that episode...

I consider myself a big Seinfeld fan, but somehow despite the thousands of re-runs in syndication I have never seen The Contest episode. I missed it in the original run and just have never managed to catch it again.

It's not from The Contest. It's from the Pez episode!

Voted George. When I was in high school, me and a few friends had a few discussions as to what characters we would be like if our lives were a sitcom.. I, of course, was easily pegged as George. :)

I realize that. I am familiar with the reference. I was just pointing out a similar situation. Nearly everyone who would be considered a big Seinfeld fan has seen The Contest and yet it continues to elude me.

Back in the early nineties, I was living back at home after college thanks to massive credit card debt, and I hadn't had a date in a good long while. I often felt I was living George Constanza's life. :)

I didn't catch the shrinkage episode for a long time. And I missed the beginning of the series, so I have the Tivo harvesting Seinfeld for me these days. Every once in a while I see an episode that I've never seen before.

I happen to enjoy the episode where Elaine gets stuck on the subway on her way to the lesbian wedding. It is absolutely hilarious when she starts to panic, the subway restarts and she is overjoyed, then it stops again and she lets loose with a censored tirade, all in her head.

What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?!? He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year, he's got a rocket for an arm, you don't know what the hell you're doin'!!
Well, Buhner was a good prospect, no question about it. But my baseball people love Ken Phelps' bat. ?They kept saying 'Ken Phelps , Ken Phelps'.
