Last Tuesday night Lady H_B and I went out to Home Depot to look at grills (they're on sale now as it's off-season and all). We didn't end up getting anything, though we did pick a tarp for the firewood.

Anyway, on our way home we were driving under an over pass and heard a *Pop!* and then a *TING!* and felt an impact on the passenger-side door (Lady H_B was driving because she'd been the Home Depot before). Anyway, it was late and raining outside and the car was running fine so we didn't check anything. A few days later we remember and check out the car to find this....

A bullet hole in my station wagon.

The bullet went through the outside of the car and the padding/insulation there and hit the frame, bouncing harmlessly away. A few feet back and it would have went through the door into ole H_B. Not good times...

Think about how much more cred you'd get if you got hit.

I move to change H_B's nickname from Hockey Boy to 2pac. Anyone care to second this motion?

Did Lady H_B, by chance, cut anyone off on the way home?

(glad no one was hurt)

Tell me about it. If I had been winged in the thigh, it could have been kind of cool (assuming no bone damage). Still, I happily accept my fate and lack of a bullet wound.

Thanks. I don't think she did. We were sort of lost for a bit, but she's the most careful and cautious driver I have ever seen. That kind of driving could tick some folks off for sure, but I certainly don't recall any incidents that night. No honking, close calls, or anything. This really felt completely, 100% random.

dude, another reason why the man must always drive! You would've been speeding a bit I am sure. So that big ole bullet would have missed you by a mile. That being said be thankful your lady doesn't drive a wee bit faster or you're oozing.

glad you 2 weren't hurt. Though, if it happened to me, my post would have gone something like this...
(assuming my name was yours. picture me scared as hell)

The fucking bullet went through the fucking outside of the fucking car and the fucking padding/insulation there and hit the fucking frame, bouncing harmlessly away. A few fucking feet back and it would have went through the fucking door into ole H_B. Not good times... Son of a bitch!!!

I'm probably evil, but the first thing I thought when you said that was:

"OhmyGod, OhmyGod" (http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~dsadmsoo/boortz/boo.wav)

Which probably means I should link to this too:

Sadly, I was more concerned about the windshield wipers that are overdue for replacement.

Please don't tell me you live in Maplewood, MN.

Glad no one was hurt. It almost looks like one of those sticker thingies that people put on their cars/bikes. What kind of car is that? It almost looks like a Subaru?

Any thoughts about notifying the authorities? Your car was shot for goodness sakes! That hole don't look like it was caused by a .22 either. It looks like some serious ammo was used.

Oh and that is the best bullet hole sticker I have ever seen.

I live in Washington, DC. And, yes, it's a Subaru Outback.

We called the cops. Thought it might be necessary to have a police report for issurance if we need to go down that road...
