Just throwing some props out to Kansas for ending a 36 game losing streak to Nebraska. Good job, guys.

I bet Nebraska wishes they could get a do-over on the Frank Solich era.

So Nebraska can have one win in their last nine games against a ranked opponent? Yeah, let's bring that regime back. That powerhouse wasn't going anywhere.

Nebraska's not a bad team. They just have a few holes and aren't playing very well together yet. Although I really dislike Calahan, I'll bet he has them on top of the North again in a year or two.

He won't be there in two years.

How is Nebraska doing in recruiting, this and the last two years?

How is Nebraska doing in recruiting, this and the last two years?#5 last year and currently #13 this season, according to rivals.com. That is what is saving Callahan's job right now.

Damn, Kansas may screw around and get themselves into a bowl game.

Yep, and it's one of the reasons I think they'll improve. Their defense is solid - not as great as Husker teams in the past but solid. And once they begin to play together offensively, I think they have the potential to be a solid team. Combine that with the fact that nobody in the North seems to be dominating anything, including recruiting, and I see Nebraska giving Callahan a couple years.

It's a pretty long shot against Texas next week. But we've got Iowa State at home in 2 weeks for bowl eligibility. Maybe we'll get our second trip to the Tangerine Bowl in 3 years :)

Thing is, they aren't playing many of the True Freshmen this year, which they should be. New and better talent doesn't help if it's sitting on the bench.

After the loss this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if this changed for the last two games.

Yeah, I don't disagree with this at all. I can't say I'm overly familiar with Nebraska's roster, but it was my impression as well that he hasn't played a lot of the Freshmen. That's the main reason I said a couple years rather than next year.
I just think Nebraska is past the point of their incorrect assumption that a renaissance as a passing offense and a jump back to the top of the polls was a quick transition. That's why I think they'll give Callahan a bit of time.

You still are playing with Solich's guys who were brought in to play the option...ie the WR's, TE's and OL. It should also be pointed out that the Huskers, while winning 10 games in Solich's last year, were ranked 83rd in total offense. Their defense was just insane that year and won a lot of games for them that year.
I have a bigger question with Cosgrove as D coordinator right now, but he's also working with 2 back-up LB's and an inexperienced secondary.

Eh, they are still fighting for bowl eligibility.

I think Callahan's biggest mistake was getting rid of the walk-on program. I'm not that familiar with the program, but wasn't that thing a HUGE tradition there? I'd think that since he got rid of that, the leash is VERY short.

Nebraska is right up there with Notre Dame and Ohio State on the top of the list of teams I hate, so I always love it when they lose. Good job Kansas!:D
