So I have quickly taken a Conference North team to the EPL...I advanced every year...yes I know thats impossible but I kinda got a little cash injection...anyways...so basically now I cant sign any top players...its not that they dont accept me, but that my AM rates them as worthless...and they arent like Vincent Kompany, or other top stars on the Elite teams...even marginal players that would improve my roster....So how do I fix this...I hired other AM's but I cant get any results...and I cant fire the current AM...because the team thinks it will cost too much in compensation....Even my scouts think that higher players are worthless and they have 20/20 for scouting
Long story short, this is one of the few annoyances I have had with this great game....Any Ideas on what to do?

The problem is that the board only allows me 23,000 in wages when my AM says they are worthless...if he would grade the right I would be allowed 100 thousand

what the board allows isn't entirely based on the AM's assessment. I've seen some instances where he said a player was shite and the board still allowed me to offer him to big money...

How many years have you been in the EPL? If you go back to the FM impressions thread, Jari Rantanen's Leicester squad were not allowed to spend additional money on wages until they were financially established in the EPL. There's too much of a risk to dump money into player wages if the team is going to be relegated. So try to ride out a couple of seasons in the Prem, establish yourself solidly in the black and work from there.

That doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned... when I won Europe with a League Two team after 9 years a while back, I had a few 1-2 star players, and my AM was constantly telling me the squad "needed strengthening". If we win Europe, I don't think we really need strengthening thanks.
I think a lot of people tend to keep their staff on as they move up, especially for lower league clubs, and if they're idiots to begin with that's why you'll get those messages a lot of times.

The role on the team that you are offering with the contract has alot to do with the maximum offer allowed. You will not be able to offer as big a contract to a backup as you would a starter.

This was an issue/bug with 05 that was never resolved, to my recollection.

This has been tuned a bit in the forthcoming patch to ensure that boards 'open' up a little if you have a lot of excess cash to hand .... the new patch is in testing, should be out before xmas.

Any chance the financial balance in the Scottish Leagues will be looked at? At the moment I've got everybody swimming in cash, throwing about million pound transfer fees without a thought, teams in the Scottish First spending 5mil in a season.
Kills the realism for me.

Actually it was the other way round: wages were fine: I had far more to spend than I possibly wanted/needed to: they didn;t give me hardly any transfer funds though initially - although I received two or three boosts through the year as I proved I had the team to stay up, and actually over the year had more to spend than I would have expected (probably because I was top 6 all year, finishing 4th).
The above was a major problem in a previous version, something to do with club reputations IIRC. I'm sure Marc can explain better than myself.
