Yes and no, mostly the exposure of being in the second level of a "reasonable" size country. Many people from outside countries challenge the higher teams because they do have more supporters and bring better crowds in friendlies, but I honestly don't think I have that many more supporters than many top teams in III...

When I was in DVI, I had to beg people to have a friendly with me. Now in DV even, all I do is sign on and wait a little bit and I have a ton of offers. Usually I can get a team that wants to come to my place for an international friendly, even. I can only imagine what it is like in DII, though I bet a lot of people in the world assume that Hattrick USA is much bigger than Hattrick Canada, so that may have something to do with it.

Canada is about one division below the US in terms of both team levels and reputation, if I could call it that. I'm in II now in Canada but I now pretty well that my team would struggle to hold its own in III in the US.

As a comparison to you, I wasn't getting many challenges in the one season I spent in div V in Canada, then it started coming a bit in IV then more in III then BOOM in division II...

In Kraftworks, we were talking about this and I put forth this post: "As a Div IV USA team, I've gotten matches with 1st Div teams in Bolivia, Misr, Brasil, Hellas, Türkiye, and Jamaica and that's just this season. In all, I've played 30 Div I teams from other countries. Lots of teams are willing to come down and play lower teams, if you're both patient and not rude."

Don't feel too special, tho. If I log on and leave my account logged in for an hour, I can get a good 20-30, too, and I'm just a lowly Div IV ;)

It's as much about instant gratification for challengers as it is the division.
