Evolutionally speaking, your chances to evolve are higher with cheerful cute chicks. Your Santa hat fetish is natural selection at work.

Speaking as a prude, I don't know what a Santa hat has to do with cuteness. A woman wearing a fat old man's hat should not be cause for arousal, especially during the time we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
