Does anyone have any experiences with this. I have been encouraged to ask and research that I could return it if need be and get a better one. any help would be appreciated.

Just my personal opinion, but I think it's rude to return a gift that someone took the time to get for you. But like I said, that's just my opinion.

I said, "Was there a guy who helped?" she replied, "no, he was rude and an asshole...so please, if its not a good one just take it there cuz they have a ton of them." SO it was cleared up prior to.

You are probably better off looking on cnet, amazon, etc. and getting lots of reader reviews.

The people here know a lot, but this is a pretty specific type of question.

Cnet gave it a 7.4 out of 10.

Just thank her, smile, and be grateful it wasn't an ugly sweater.

I think it is a very nice gift. Those run $400.00.
In my world women don't give men electronics gifts-- period.

The one your GF got you is a mini-DV cam. I like the new mini DVD-R camcorders, though more expensive and battery hogs.
Sony probably makes the best camcorders out there. I like
the touch screen controls. I've had a DCR-PC9 for years now
and it's a good camcorder. NOT for still photos though. Yours either.

What kind of horrible nightmare world do you live in where women don't give men electronics gifts? ;)

My usual question when a birthday is coming up is "what game do you want?" from my wife

i have a panasonic, bought it last christmas, love it....its about 2x the size of the one you got, and has a 3ccd lens and 700x digital zoom, battery lasts about 2 hours...dont know too much about yours, but i thought while shopping around last year that the really small ones didnt have the picture quality of the slightly larger ones.

I like the new mini DVD-R camcorders, though more expensive and battery hogs. And they precompress into MPEG-2 for the most part. Stick with the ones that go to tape if you intend to edit or make copies...

totally disagree. the biggest reason being the cost of the mini dvd-r's and the fact that once you film to one, it cannot be erased/taped over/edited...you only have a half hour of space on them (as of last christmas time) and if you tape something that you dont want or only want a part of, you are stuck with it.

I'd give it a 6.8.
