I wasn't suggesting that it would drop him out of the 1st round or even the top 15. However, it could cost him his #2 slot, particularly if Vince continues to look great and/or Texas wins.Yup....and that would cost him a significant chunk of bonus money.

95' Nebraska may have had 30+ against this team before the half. Not even close to the best team ever. ESPN just wasted another 2 weeks of programming bits by Kirk and May.

Good half of football. Hats off to Texas for capitalizing on the SC mistakes. Now can they survive the 2nd half?

UT has already been written off a couple of times this game, so I'd say yes.

No worries, it wasn't a particularly good one. Although I do believe that a lot of USC "fans" will be heading for the exits in the 3rd quarter if Texas goes up by 2 TDs.

From SGS:

Reggie Bush has been good, but not great. Lendale White has been okay. Matt Leinart was not having a good game before getting hit hard and you have to wonder how wobbly he is.

Vince Young has played well. Texas’ defense has played very well, sacking Leinart twice and intercepting him once. They have, however, lost two defensive starters to cramps. It is a humid night in the seventies, a bit warm for Los Angeles for January.

Certainly this game is not over by any stretch, but at times tonight USC seems to be USC’s opposition and not Texas. Texas needs thirty more minutes like they just played and they will have deserved the national championship.

just talking with my sister, about Young vs. Leinert. And I can't for the life of me think that Leinert will get picked higher than Young, especially after seeing in this game how Young has the game-changing ability all by himself where Leinert needs weapons around him. Young is a more immediate positive impact on a franchise, resulting in more wins/excitement than a traditional pocket passer such as Leinert.

And I could see the Saints taking Young and jettisoning Brooks. Why the hell not. Brooks doesn't have a HUGE cap hit does he?

The funny thing is, he's been doing this for quite awhile, but his performance against USC is going to make him an instant top pick, when the fact is, he's doing this against a crappy defense. I don't care if this is the national championship game. I'll give him extra credit for stepping up in a big game, but put him up against a real defense, and he wouldn't look like Michael Vick on roller skates nearly every play.

I'm not sure how their skills will transfer to the pros, but this just confirms that Brown is a better QB than Leinhart. Put Leinhart at FSU and he would likely be considered middle of the pack.

Are they reviewing it because there was no whistle? Because usually, in the NFL, I thought calls like that were unreviewable.
From what I've seen in this game and other NCAA games this year, the NCAA definately does not have the same rules about what plays are reviewable as the NFL..

BS! He made a move, he started to turn and got nailed losing the ball.
Actually, I think what saved him is that he didn't move. He caught it, but seemed to be bracing for a hit, fumbled, and it looked like an incompletion.

I dunno, probably a good call... the ball shifts positions in his hands enough that you could make the argument that it was bobbled - probably not indisputable evidence.

So if I catch the ball and stand still for 10 seconds, can it still be called an incomplete pass if I drop it?

Sure...if the 10 seconds happen during an instant replay slo-mo.

My argument is with the "football move" criteria (if that's what the refs were using). To me, it was clear he had clean possession of the ball with two feet on the ground. Fumble.
