View Full Version : Bye Bye Roscoe
Sad to say, but I'm letting Roscoe go. I asked Lathrop to give me a slight heads up when he felt I should, so I could channel that funding into another keeper in the future.
The word came in today, so Roscoe is up for sale. I'm a little sad to see him go, and quite honestly, it may mean I demote do DV.
I will pick up a good keeper in the interim and train him. Man, I'm a little bummed out about this.

...it may mean I demote to D.VI.
Fixed it for ya!

at least you already got what you bid for him with those crazy ass wages.
Why not change training types now?
If you have ideas, call me, PM me, shell them, post them, do something. :)

Well, if you were to change training, you'd have to have a good backup to take over as primary. That way you'd have your keeper in place and just pull a solid keeper as a backup.

Just as an FYI, it's entirely possible to get an early season 18yo high solid keeper to ET before age 21 or very soon after. Mine took till 22, but only because I switched training when he had 2 weeks towards ET, and went back to get him to ET at the end of that season.
I'm quite happy I trained my own keeper, saved me 7 mil.

I'm just not sure what path I want to take at the moment. I'll have 11+ million in the bank.
I could just buy a new keeper and continue on this path or switch it up.
I'm very undecided at this point.

Well, either way it goes, getting anew keeper is a given, no sense in not having a decent one, whether you buy one or train one. You could buy a slightly older, already trained keeper and train for a season or two to get to the level you want, and switch training then. Or...you can buy a keeper at the level you want and switch training.
Not real sure what all you've trained in the past, other than scoring and keeper, but you could always try defending or winger. Or you could start training rare types of players, such as FTW or a stud winger with lots of PM. Whatever will make you happy with your team and keep you coming back to look at it, though I'm not sure you've got the boredom problem quite that bad.
Though...I haven't seen you do your guestbook tour lately.

keeper training blows... get out now!
I'm sticking with it.
With my cash reserve, I bought a mythical scorer with inad passing/SP for just under 5 million, and then went bonkers and bought a mythical keeper for just under 7 million. The keeper is the current backup on the Argentina U-20 squad. My salary for the team is way lower now.
I figure I'll train the new keeper to divine and probably sell him. I have no real ties to Argentina, but if I can get a wage break, regardless of how small, I'll take it.
Plus, I wanted to ensure I had a dominate keeper this season as well.
I know Brillig is going to see this. Eh, no worries. Just don't post this over in the IV.45 conference, please. :)

Going out of hattrick with a bang? Because burning through cash like that will ensure you have to start over near the bottom and work your way back up.

How did it save you 7 million? Your actual costs were low but your opportunity costs were high. During that same time I could take 10 high solid defenders to WC for a 'savings' of $28M.

Exactly- making money in HT is easy: just train. Making money relative to what everyone else is doing and thus gaining ranking is much harder.

I may be crazy but it sure is fun.

You know, I honestly don't care? You neglect to add in the cost of said high solid defenders, as well. Either way it goes, the game of HT is about having fun, and whether anyone else likes it or not, I had fun training my keeper and have fun having him play in my matches.
Anyways, it saved me from buying an ET keeper for ~7M, is what I meant. Whether you approve of the method or not is quite inconsequential. :)
