There is a reason that he went that low... it IS his wages.
I had a rent a winger that had $666,000 wages a week, but at least he was a starter for the China Nats Team (to help with those wages).

Frogger, good buy if you can afford it. I afforded Lyon's salary while training him for a year, and I contend I could have done so for at least another year. I think you can do it if you're crafty enough about it. Just remember, Cup money is free money. Make sure the Cup runneth over. Screw league games. Make sure you keep the Cup money going. That was the key for me I believe.

Okay, after analysis, I think I came out of this little experiment just about breakeven and maybe better... Let's take a look at it.
Thomas was on my payroll for three weeks, three weeks in which I paid him 423984C$. This is not really fair, but let's compare it to a canadian titanic playmaker that I could buy for some affordable transfer fee and whose salary is at 78240C$, that's a weekly difference of 345744, times 3 makes a loss on salary of 1.037M C$.
I paid 5.408M C$ up front for him and will receive 6.44M C$ for him, or a gain of 1.032M C$.
I'd say it's pretty close. Even better, the guy was on my team in the timespan where I play my middies on both Sundays and Wednesdays, so he's played 6 games for me in these three weeks...
I said I'm coming out of it breakeven or maybe better. The maybe better is in the sense that I used a magical, 8 stars middie in a time of need... Maybe I was lucky to get a bid on him, maybe not, but I'm pretty happy right now :)

I'd say you did good, FM. I'm in the market now for a titanic+ middie, after finally selling off a middie so I can replace him. Got 4.45 mil to spend, I might be able to squeeze an ET out of that, depending on competition. I'm definitely going American whatever I buy.

I'm not too sure you'll be able to get an ET for 4.45, especially if you go American. American players seem to be overpriced, well Canadians are too, well any non-Sveridgians are overpriced compared to them...
With the sale of Thomas, I have about that, 4.45M U$ to spend too and will try to go Titanic, or maybe ET, not caring too much if he's Canadian or not. The difference is I got the supporter money of a div II team, and the rest of my team's wage is quite under control...

There was an ET American age 25 who went for less than 4.4 this week. There is one listed right aged 24 at 3.9, but of course he'll go higher than that, just depends how high. He's the first on my list, and I have 4-5 titanics listed behind him. The one I like the most will go out of my price range, and is the last one there. If I decide not to get any of these guys, I'll wait for the new crop(hopefully) after todays training.

If my injury prone scorer ever manages to finish a game to get training(+3 and +4 in his last two games) I'll be shopping for another one, if I get another ET, it'd be a 4 level upgrade over the middie being replaced. very good buy imo and I see you followed my advice about experience ;) As you said yourself, a 5 level upgrade at any spot in a team is not a tiny upgrade. I also just saw that in his 9 games with his previous team, he got 6 or 6.5 stars, with no secondaries, that's a lot of midfield...
At 24, I'd say he's got about 2 seasons before he starts losing appeal to potential buyers. Until then, you could see him pop in experience at least passable and maybe even solid if you're lucky.

Well, he'll be getting a bit of passing training by default, since I'll be training it at least twice a season, and perhaps three times. I have an 18yo excellent scorer who popped to excellent passing last night(trained due to rearranging trainees and having an extra). I plan to get him to formidable passing before I sell him on. So Dean may hit poor someday, won't make much difference, but it's better than wretched.
I got four passing pops last night, one even to the 17yo excellent wing/passable scoring/weak passing kid I bought to train as a ftw. I'm really liking the direction my team is going. Just wish the form of my starting trainees would rise above an average of high poor(poor/weak/weak).

he'll still miss a few games here and there for ya cause balanced guys get some yellows, but they almost never get red cards. Getting a middy red carded during a game in Div. II basically means you lose. Then he has to sit the next week so its like a double wammy.
And considering the low price you paid for him, you should considering just keeping him forever. He's got 7-8 good years left in him and eventually his wages will start droping around 30.

And considering the low price you paid for him, you should considering just keeping him forever. He's got 7-8 good years left in him and eventually his wages will start droping around 30.
interesting. I never thought about keeping a player forever but you may be right. At first I thought about unloading him at the end of the season, before he turns 27, try to get something better than what I paid for him, although if I could get him to build on his inadequate experience, he could be a Dragon for a long time and would only build on his actual best performance of 7.5 stars...
Now, I'm thinking about listing my last initial middie and try to get some money moving to maybe finish the rehaul of my midfield...

I 'Think' im gonna keep a middy of mine forever (or sell him when he's like 32/33 or so and get something for him). He's American and he's ET+11 (basically Mythical) with weak passing. But i am training passing for another 2 1/2 seasons probally so he should hit Excellent by the time im done.
But my plans change every week so who knows what i'll do down the road :)

This is a somewhat appropriate thread for this...
One of my trainees, a 17yo Solid youth pull of mine from back in the day, just popped to Titanic PM. When should I sell? My original plan was to sell at Titanic and re-load, but my training program is really disorganized right now, and my midfield will take a pretty good hit if I swap him out right now (it doesn't help that middie #4 is hurt for 5 more weeks).

can't help you much Vince although I think this would put you well into next season to train this fellow to ET, wouldn't it? Just an idea but why not sell him and get a young formidable/outstanding to train for a season or two, just the time for your training regimen to get back in order?

dola, following the buy of that new magical middie, and the sale of long time Dragon, Hubert Gortemaker, here's how my transfer history looks like:

Looks kinda funny doesn't it? :D
Gortemaker was a magnificent playmaker with inadequate passing and defending and solid experience and he sold for about 400k U$ more than the magical dude :) Sure, the wages are also not the same but who cares, gotta have some fun in life :)

That's a beautiful buy, FM. 132K is doable, especially at your level and for a good talent who isn't super old. I like Havok's idea of just keeping him forever (unless they come out with some sort of age change to the engine where you can get good money for him later).
Vince- I haven't been shopping in a while but last I checked, you still get a decent return on ET middies, tho Titanic is better. Anything beyond ET and you're going to lose money because of wages fears so don't go past that line.

Yeah...I think I want to sell him now at Titanic, but that would put me in danger of another qualifier, I think -- our series is tight as all hell, and my midfield (best in the series right now, I'm pretty sure) is what is keeping me comfortable with my position.
What's tough is that I don't have time in real life anymore to shop around for good trainees and such, so it makes it difficult for me to get my training regimen back in order.

thanks. Once his wages added to the team total and Kvarning's wages substracted from it, since he will replace Kvarning on the lineup, I come up to 827 648C$, or 413 824U$ which is just about the average wage for a division II team in Canada.
And yeah, the "keep him forever" plan is kind of growing on me, although I've never done any plans set in stone so we'll see :)

413 824k in Div. II is actually kinda on the low end(in the USA anyway). Your doing just fine in that department.
Good buy..... now i just gotta find me a mid to high mythical(or low magical) USA player who is 23 or younger with at least weak passing and perferably a head specialist :)
i was gonna go with a goalie next, but i think i might just try to overpower my divison with midfield and offense(see The Oompa-Loompas in Divison II.4) next season. All these crazy 3-4-3 trainers in my divison are just asking to get overwelmed by my midfield ;) (that is if my best middy EVER gets out of poor form).

yeah, just checked the supporter stats, average wage in Canada II is 410k U$ and in USA II is 512k U$. An interesting difference when you consider that most of the incomes remain the same...
I've always been on the very low end of wages and this is the first time I've ever come close to the average in any level I've played. It's also the first I've dabbled in the magical, extra-terrestrial or even titanic levels of players...
If any of my two players currently on the market had had enough of a bid, I would have bought a 24yo canadian extra-terrestrial playmaker this afternoon. He went for a one bid of 3.49M U$... I'll keep on shopping.

vince,
fwiw, i almost sold my newly titanic middie.. however, after some very long talking/chatting/im'ing with tellistto, i'm keeping him to ET, even though I'm getting relegated, anyway.
