jb, seriously, what the fuck is up with all your questions? are you really that curious about all this shit you start threads for, or you want attention? you don't annoy me as much as you annoy the Dawg, but c'mon man, ease up a little.

I nominate jb.. but he usually doesn't buy anything until he's positively sure everything is fixed... and posts about it. :)

So much potential, yet nothing but screenshots and fizzled buildup.

Not until.....umm never.

There's a bowel movement text sim?

I don't think you can really classify Maximum Football as a text sim.

Dola:

We need to find someone who bought Football Mogul ...obviously, that'll be our best chance to get someone to buy this.

In general, I don't have any problem buying a sports text sim (and I still consider this game to be in that category, at the moment) that at least attempts to meet my interests. Nominally, this game qualifies, so I'm open to it.

There are some games that I will buy on release day, or even pre-order, based on what i've seen by that point. This one isn't going to make that list, for a variety of reasons. But I remain open to buying it if there are some credible arguments that the game is worth having... all things considered, I like to support this industry where I can do so.

I also try not to let human frailties play too much into my decisions. Developers do things that I don't like, and say things that I don't like, and unless I see my commercial support for their product actually being connected to their messages, I try to shelve that. If this game's developer wants to lob insults at the people who have criticied his "game" (I use the quotes because, after all, even after years and years of promises and hype, this remains still only a hypothetical product, lest we forget) then I suppose that represents another hurdle... but I will consciously try to overlook that and judge the game on its eventual merits.

It's hard not to pre-judge the game based on the bluster and the disappointing peek at the supposed feature list... but if this game does represent (as it seems to hope) some sort of advancement of the game model initiated by Front Page Sports / FB Pro years ago... then I'm probably game for dropping one big bet on it at some point. And if it's a steaming sack of shit, I'll probably sit this one out.

Really? Because I have always wondered if those games are any good? I know they don't revolutionize gaming or anything, but are they entertaining?

I wonder if I would knit-pick the game because of lack of realism? Does it have dispatchers? Do they have truckstops? Do Freightliner trucks always have the A/C and heater core break every six months?

Do Freightliner trucks always have the A/C and heater core break every six months? There used to be this cool game called "Cross Country USA" where you were a trucker and had to haul goods across the country. You had to stop at truck stops and eat, sleep there if you have too, you could sleep in your cab but ran the risk of your battery dying, stay in a motel if you got tired, etc. Pretty state of the art for 1985.
