On my TWCable bill, these items appear:

...

02/12 Standard Service 33.66

02/12 Converter(s) @ $7.49 Ea 7.49

02/12 Additional DTV Service 9.75
DTV Add'l Set @$2.00 Ea, Remote(s) @ $0.26 Ea,
Converter(s) @ $7.49 Ea

...

We have digital cable boxes, but we don't get digital cable service. There's no interactive guide, no channels above 70, etc.

So isn't what we have "Standard" service. Are they charging us for Digital service that we aren't receiving?

Thanks for any input!

Call 'em and ask 'em. When you get as frustrated with Time Warner Customer Service and their billing as I have, call DirecTV and tell 'em I sent you (so I get the $50 family & friends referral credit).

The account is in my roommate's name and she's not very technically literate so I was hoping for some concrete information before she calls.

Thanks for the reply, though, and anyone else who could also offer help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The first part was serious. Call them and ask them what that charge is for. It sure sounds like you're correct, though. What's probably happened is you have digital cable boxes instead of just analog, and they are gouging you for it even though you aren't using them.
