That quote must come from a non-drinker.

We aren't talking Sea Breeze here...long islands are sooo fricken good, they're bad. Most women I know can't handle more than 1. I myself have susstained about 5 before I pissed my pants like a little baby.

I mean, it's basically nothing but alcohol. Not a frequently ordered drink though.

Yea Long Island Ice Tea ain't nothin but alchy and a splash of soft drink. If its a women's drink, as in women can and will drink a few of them, then we are talking about better women drinkers than I am around.

Gotta go top shelf on the Long Island though, its worth it.

I hate those bars that think Texas Teas are the same as Long Islands. Its a bad thing when you are looking forward to that clever balance of booze and sour only to be blasted by a snif of shitty tequila mixed in. YUCK!

OK, enough about the drinking. More about the XBox 360. What games were being played on this huge screen?

Funny. It's obvious I don't have a 360 if I concentrated on the booze factor. Or is it that I am a practicing drinker?

LIIT's have tequila.

NO! That's the thing.

I have been to places that serve them with Tequila. It's a Texas Tea but is offered as a Long Island.

The corperate places tend to make good Long Islands. Applebee's makes a killer one. I think the sour mix is very key. Some places make their own sour and that can be a little bland. The stuff that comes in the cardboard cartons, lime green (forget the name) is very good sour mix.

a long island ice tea is
1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-ColaŽ

Texas Tea is
2 oz tequila
2 oz rum
2 oz vodka
2 oz gin
2 oz bourbon whiskey
2 oz triple sec
2 oz sweet and sour mix
Coca-ColaŽ

note the only significant difference is the addition of whiskey in the texas tea. tequila is in both

I would argue that. I did some research a few years ago and found some other recipes that didn't have tequila in. Not saying you are wrong, but I would probably find recipes that didn't have it in. The 'texas' is the tequila. I got this bit of info from a friend of mine who bartended for Friday's for the last 6 years. I don't equate bourbon with Texas.

what a threadjack!

I did some digging and the traditional long island (from 1972) does call for an equal part of tequila. However, I also saw that several websites have recipes without.

Once you get that many types of booze mixed in there, it's not like you can tell anyway.

Give me a pint of Guinness and a shot or two of Jameson. It's all good.

An Irish car bomb. An order that is not recommended in Boston, where it is best called a plain ol "Car Bomb."

On that note, a flaming Dr pepper is frigging awesome.

I didn't say mix em together. Though car bombs are indeed not bad for those nights when you are hell bent on killing yourself.

I've always known as Texas Tea to have tequila in place of gin. So a LIT would have:

Gin
Rum
Vodka
Triple Sec

At least that's how we make 'em at the OG...

While a TT would have:

Tequila
Rum
Vodka
Triple Sec

OK, enough about the drinking. More about the XBox 360. What games were being played on this huge screen?

Mostly DOA 4 (or whatever number they're on) with all the bouncy jigglies in all their full glories.

After that Condemmed Criminals. (A decent game only to be played in the dead of night)
