I was just looking at my player supporter stats, specifically the number of matches played for us and it hit me. I'm selling the three dudes who have the most matches played as a Dragon. Take a look at my top ten in matches played, all matches included:

Gortemaker (magnificent pm, solid exp) was sold last week.
Kvarning (WC pm, excellent exp) is on the market right now.
Riser (WC pm, excellent exp) will be listed, if not today, very soonish.

All three of them were acquired as fresh youth pulls, Riser and Kvarning as 17yo passable playmaker, Gortemaker as an inadequate playmaker but with both inadequate passing and defending. All three of them are now 26.

I had bought an extra-terrestrial pm earlier in the season, rendering Gortemaker useless. I just bought a magical pm thanks to the money of the Gortemaker sale, and I will probably buy another ET or titanic pm when Kvarning and Riser will be sold. With these three new dudes, I will probably sell Zaltzman, my offensive centreback (outstanding pm, excellent def) and go with a pure defender in his place to boost my defense ratings.

This may sound silly but I'm kinda sad to let them go. I mean, they've been with me for 7 seasons, can you believe that, 7 seasons!!!

Open question to you all, what's the most matches to any of your still active team members?

I hate letting old guys go, too. Sometimes you just get attached to them. I've got Darren Grogan up on the transfer list now. He's the only player that I've ever trained from MY youth squad. I'm a little verklempt.

I'm a little fortunate as Starks is currently my coach and Timber will be my coach in about 5 seasons. Starks is actually an original Hippo from over 3 years ago- I'm not sure I'll ever fire or sell him. Timber is my backup keeper- he's a exc(-1) keeper and solid/pass coach material so he's in the future coach line.

Little's an interesting case- I pulled him as an 18yo solid pm/solid passing yp from my squad (worth a few hunded K) but had an open training spot and kept him. Now he's Titanic PM/Exc Pass and one of my starting middies since he's American and really good. He's getting up there in years and I should probably replace him but I just can't part with him. :(

Funny, I sold my longest standing player, Anatole Momot, 150 something games for the Fantastic Flying Froggies, just yesterday.
He'd been playing as a backup until very recently, but went down with a long term injury (7+ weeks :(), so I put him up for transfer as a coach and now, he's gone...

- Cedric Lemoine is my backup goalie (pulled from my center as a mid solid).
- Johan Servers is an "original" player whom I transformed into coach. Wanabee crap backup at PM or forward for wednesdays. Should be fired.
- David Lenaour was my first "big" purchase (250k) as a multi purpose winger (can play off wing, WTM, defensive)
- Elbaek was purchased for my Cup run a few years ago (we still lost the game after we purchased him) and his now #2/#3 scorer for us
- Marcelle is our current coach (crappy backup scorer)
- Fortunato was purchased as a late 17yo formidable PMer, he is now titanic PM and we train him in def, we expect him to be kept a long time aboard.

- the rest is not with us anymore. Seems we are not very sentimental :)

I'm also thinking of releasing both George Flores, an original Raider, and Victor Rodriguez, better known as TonyR.

I think I'm being too sentimental for players who just don't stand a chance to play competitively. I hold out hope from time to time, since Flores still is inad playmaking and defending I believe, but it's hard for me to think I'd send him out on the pitch. Tony, well, he's a weak winger, and that's all he has going for him.

That, and he's my boy.

I hold out hope from time to time, since Flores still is inad playmaking and defending I believe, but it's hard for me to think I'd send him out on the pitch. Tony, well, he's a weak winger, and that's all he has going for him.

being sentimental is one thing. Holding out hope that you'll play them with the big boys is another. As long as he doesn't "die" (get injured and start getting worse) I won't ever release God from my squad even though he's now 36 and has dropped to poor scoring and inad passing from what used to be a good double solid in these. He got injured in a friendly last season and it took him almost all of last season to get back. He's simply a friendly kind of player for me now but, you know, he's God! :)
