View Full Version : This has been the strangest night I've had in a long time

Note: This is x-posted to OOTP, so haters please back off.
Okay so I message this girl on facebook earlier today, right? She comes to the party tonight and I'm pretty sure she's in one of my classes. Really cute redhead. While I normally don't dig redheads, when I do, they're hot.
Anyway, she and pretty much everyone else at the party ignore me except for a couple of the brothers and I'm too shy to do anything about it. I'm getting more and more pissed off as the night wears on, so I go and lie down outside on the porch and stare up at the outdoor thermometer.
Pledge educator comes outside and tells me to go back in the house. I decline. 45 minute scathing lecture and riot act reading ensues. Annoyed even more by the end of it, I go inside, throw my empty cup at the garbage bin, and stomp upstairs.
More lecturing and riot act reading.
This puts me in a really severe depression, where I start wondering if life is even worth it. Spend some time PM'ing a couple people back and forth and feel immensely better afterwards.
Look up US and UEFA licensing requirements and ponder a move to England because I can get UEFA licensing a hell of a lot faster.
Then my roommate comes in with one of the Alpha Phis, and guess who they're carrying between them?
That's right, the redhead.
So she's now passed out on my couch and I'm maintaining watch over her while she sleeps and my roommate tries to go to sleep by watching a movie in his room with the door open. (We've got the main door to the room shut though).
Funny how life works. She's calmed now and she looks absolutely gorgeous just sleeping there on the couch. There's just something about sleeping girls that's so pretty and evokes tenderness in me.
Not sure when she'll wake up or what I'll say when she does wake. Maybe offer her a walk and coffee at the restaurant two blocks from the house?

Supposed to be. Just haven't been taking it.

That has to be one of the most boring Late Friday/ Early Saturday morning stories I have ever read. Where is the action man?
You need to read more of the idiot "Drunk" posts around here.
Supposed to be. Just haven't been taking it.That's probably the best answer to a question one can have.

Are you actually enjoying your time at the fraternity? I ask because by reading some of your stories sometimes, it sounds like you may need a new circle of peeps.

She might now want to talk at all. Most likely, she'll want to crawl back into her own hole and sleep it off.

I'd say that overall I'm enjoying my time here at the fraternity yeah. I just need to get back on my medication.
And yeah she hasn't been in a conversational mood. I've pretty much been playing pass the puke bowl. It's all good.

Good Lord. Izulde, I really don't hate you, but it really sounds like you have a lot of problems. The last thing I would do, if I were you, is stop taking your medication. Are you in therapy weekly? Are you not attending that either? PLEASE, do so.

Delt Sigs.
And nope, not in therapy. No insurance. I'll just get back on my medication and see how that goes.
I'm looking forward to getting some sleep when the chance comes. I've been up 21 hours so far.

Do they not offer free healthcare to college students anymore? Man this country is strange.

Health care when I was in college was an absolute joke. You could go to the doctors office with one of your limbs missing or with a really bad stomach flu and you ended up getting a plastic bag of take home crap you could get from the CVS (advil, makeshift thermometer, a bandage, and little vile of like nyquil and some other stuff).

It depends on the campus. Most campuses will cover very minor things free, others not. I'll have to check and see what this one offers Monday. I can't afford to let myself slip back to where I was before. I've busted my ass too hard the last three and a half yearsish to get out of the hole I dug myself in.

When I was in college they required every student to have healthcare, but the student had to foot the bill.

I'm sure you know that many medications and alcohol do not mix. I worked at Tulane's student health care center for about a year, and we actually had a VERY good student health center. However, Tulane is one of the more expensive schools in the country, so I guess I'd be a pissed off parent if I was sending my kid there and he couldn't get good healthcare on campus.

Yep. S'why I'm waiting till tonight or Sunday night to start up my medication again... course it means I'll be alcohol-free the rest of the semester, but my mental sanity's more important.

Alcohol-free is not a bad way to go. You never hear anybody say "my life was crap until I started drinking."

some days I really miss being in college. Then I can read threads like this and feel lots better. Thanks Izulde!
Seriously though, take your meds. Life in college is fucked up enough.

Medicate yourself, man. This thread deserves a song parody, though, from the magnifincent bastard.

It was part of the (mandatory) student fees at WVU and was pretty good. I didn't realize that it was lacking at a lot of school.

Near as I could tell from people I knew who went there (I didn't dare since I was on my parents' insurance), they had a diagnosis pad with 2 check boxes: [] Mono [] STD. Have a flu, you have mono. Missing an arm from some mechanical equipment accident, STD. Head cold, mono. Poison ivy, STD. You get the idea.

As for the original post, c'mon, geez
1) Not taking meds = bad
2) Drinking and taking meds = bad
3) Joining up with frat, seemingly either for status or because everyone else is doing it = bad
4) Have someone yell at you for 45 minutes because you're not "socializing properly" tells me your frat = bad
5) Depression from having a dumb incident as #4 = bad
It's like listening to someone who gets their socialization clues from teenage/college tv shows and wondering why it's not all it's cracked up to be.

But seriously, you go to a large state university. Find a group of friends who you want to hang out with. Nothing a frat has to offer is worth it if you don't enjoy being around the brothers.

Izulde, as far as therapy is concerned, when I was poor, I went through Catholic Social Services (probably in your phonebook). I'm not Catholic, but they extended to me therapy sessions for what I could afford as I had no insurance. There ARE ways to get the help you need, but you have to push for it. It's like anything - if a doctor tells you something you don't believe, you move on to the next doctor. Health care IS there, but you have to realize YOU'RE in control and you may have to fight for it.
Good luck.

Thanks, guys. I started back on my medication tonight. Just took it a few minutes ago, actually.
I'll check on local therapy services, too.
