View Full Version : NY Knicks
They just suck, obviously.......I'm a new yorker and loved them back in their Ewing, Straks, Oakley and Mason days, even during the LJ 4 point play days.....but my god do they suck something aweful.....thats all

I like what Isaiah is doing. He clearly has a plan and I wouldn't be surprised to see this team win 50+ games next year. Steve Francis is exactly what the knickerbockers needed to get over the hump.
Oh I agree 100%.......Isiah clearly knows what hes doing and is leading this franchise in the right direction, no doubt......seriously though, as of right now i must say they are on their way to one of the worst franchises in sports history......I don't even really care about basketball, but being a New Yorker, this actually offends me

Odd, because what I remember most from the Ewing era is New Yorkers complaining that he wasn't a winner/gamer/whatever-the-catchphrase-was who couldn't get them over the hump.
That's why I think it's idiocy when fans complain about a certain coach or athlete who "only" gets them to the playoffs every year but doesn't win the big one. When Schuerholz and Cox leave Atlanta and the Braves REALLY stink, how do you think the fans will respond?

Shouldn't Larry Brown be on suicide-watch after performances like last night?
from ESPN.com:
Stephon Marbury (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3099), who was guarding Arenas, left with 55 seconds remaining in the first half and did not return. Marbury, who led the Knicks with 15 points, was bothered by a recurring left shoulder injury that forced him to miss 11 games earlier in the season.
"Yeah, I got hit again," Marbury said. "I was trying to front Antawn Jamison, but I had got hit prior to that. I think when I tried to front, I tried to push off, and that's when I really aggravated it.
"I was starting to get back into a nice little rhythm, as far as shooting the ball and as far as attacking," Marbury continued. "Going to the basket, I just was like: If I get hit, I get hit. But I took another step backwards tonight."
Hey Stephon, you gave up this: "Arenas was 9-for-11, including 5-for-7 on 3-pointers, in the first half. He also was perfect on 10 free throws and had three steals and two assists" in ONE HALF, and you're talking about how you were getting "back into a nice little rhythm"?! Next time don't give up 33 points in a single half, then we can talk about rhythm.

I have to admit, I have a little chuckle every time I finish watching a Pistons game and switch to the Knicks highlights.

I feel like I need a knife to get through all the sarcasm.

I am an Isiah defender.
The moves he makes defy logic, unless you factor in who he works for. I don't remember Isiah being an awful GM of Toronto. He wasn't great, but wasn't too bad either. But with the Knicks he is acting like Layden on steroids! How can one GM act like a bigger, bolder version of the man he replces? If the guy who signs your check tells you how to run the show.
Dolan wants butts in the seats. To tear the team apart and go through a 3-5 year rebuilding process is not an option for him. Making the playoffs with a roster that isn't going anywhere still gives him a few extra games of revenue, and a few extra games on cable. They can market the "stars" they have on the roster better than a young kid who is learning the game. How many Frye jerseys do you think will sell compared to Francis? Yet who will be the better player in three years.
Isiah isn't a mastermind by any means, but he works for the worst owner in basketball. (And yes, I include Sterling!)
Very true Blue. New York teams, for the most part, don't know what rebuilding is, it's not an option.

Well, thanks to the wonders of sports sims, here is how the current version of the Knicks would do against a completely fictional NBA.

Ok, but here's the problem. They SUCK and they're making themselves worse. If they were rebuilding they would have the same record they do now, except this way they have the horrible record and still lack any semblance of a future. So...this is progress?
Knicks fan are lucky, they don't have to deal with a rebuilding project, because they can suck well enough without it.
