I thought it would be cool to see what ringtones people on this board have on their phones. Also when you list put whether it is a "music" , "poly" , etc. Also if it's for like your close friends, family, significant other.
"Dukes of Hazzard" ; music ; a few of my more country-like friends
"Only The Good Die Young" ; music ; close friends
"Shake That" ; music ; for the chicas

The music tones are like the actual songs(actual voice and music), poly are like keyboards with the music. That doesn't make too much sense, but I think you will get it.

Music would be an actual clip of the song. A polyphonic tone is a replicated version of the song (think Midi).
well my song orgininally had no words, so I have no idea

My choices are fairly random as well (they are just songs that I like):
Eminem's "Sing for the Moment" plays when friends call.
Roadhouse's "Love of a Lifetime" plays when my wife calls.
The Cranberries "Zombie" plays when other people call.
They are all actual clips of the songs.

I have ringtones for different people:
radii: Hello, I Love You - The Doors
My parents: Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard
My friend Ruth: Rebel Yell - Billy Idol (she's my crazy friend)
My friend Jessica: White Wedding - Billy Idol (she's engaged)
Richard's Family: The theme from the movie psycho (they are crazy - but I love them anyway!)
I have a ton of ringtones downloaded and go through and change them every now and then, but these have been on there for a few months now. I know, I'm a dork :)

These are all real music clips that I cut on my computer and send to my phone so I don't have to pay for them:
I'm A Hustla by Cassidy is my ring for anyone that I don't have a custom ring set for.
I have Bring 'Em Out by T.I., Welcome 2 Detroit by Trick Trick & Eminem, P.I.M.P by 50 Cent, and Made You Look Instrumental by Nas set for different friends.
I should probably set one for my girlfriend. It was So Seductive by 50 & Tony Yayo but then I got tired of it.

No kidding? Mine does too. In fact, at the risk of sounding like Skydog, musical ringtones have always struck me as kind of gay.
Actually, not really gay. More like attention-whorish.

I just usually leave mine on vibrate as even the default ringtones on the phones I've had haven't been "normal" enough for my liking.
That said, got a razr a few months ago and did put a song clip on there for times when I do need to leave it on audible as the defaults didn't fit the bill again. I've got Vodoo by Godsmack as it's a nice low, deeper bit of the song so it doesn't really jump out at you when I get a call.

"Hey everybody, look at me and the cool music coming from my telephone!"Actually, for me, there are two very practical reasons for 'em.
1. When in a crowded situation, I know when it is MY phone ringing. So many people go with the standard ringtones. If I'm in a crowd (which I often am), I can know whether or not I need to answer without looking at it.
2. Knowing who it is. "Sanford and Son" is my standard ring, but I've got several others for different people and callgroups. For example, if I'm at a lunch meeting and hear LL Cool J's "I Need Love," I know immediately it is a priority call (my wife) and I'm going to excuse myself and answer it. If I'm at a lunch meeting and I hear the first couple of bars of "Sanford and Son," I know it is not someone who automatically merits interrupting a meeting, so I don't have to look to see who it is before reaching down to hit the "ignore" button.

1. my phone rings *and* vibrates. Stuck to my belt, I pretty know I have to answer it a moment before it actually rings.
2. most cells have caller Id these days, no? Mine does, so no need for the whole mp3 playing on it...

FM1. that works fine in the summer, but in the winter, I often wear a fleece or hooded sweatshit with sweatpants, so no belt. The phone ends up in my sweatshirt or fleece pocket, and I can't feel it vibrating.
2. Yes, I have caller ID, but I have to take it out to see who is calling. With the ring tone, I don't have to. I just reach down and disable it if it isn't a call I want to take right then.

Yeah, and my phone goes straight to voicemail if I don't want to answer it, which helps the person calling as they don't have to wait through 8 rings to find out I don't want to talk to them. Of course that little tidbit irritated my ex because she picked up on it and would always say "what you don't want to talk to me when I call?"

I absolutely agree. At work, almost every one of my co-workers has a cell phone and we all get called fairly frequently. The distinctive ring is key to knowing whether I need to reach for my phone and if I want to reach for it.

Eye of the Tiger and Don't Fear the Reaper, both Polyphonic. When I tried to assign either of them as my default ring tone, it still rang as the default whatever...Jazzology, I think it was called. So I tried to assign each individual person to the ring tone. About halfway through my address book, I got frustrated, and gave up. Now, if your name starts with M-Z, you get Don't Fear the Reaper (the default thing stuck later, somehow), and A-L gets Eye of the Tiger.
